  • In immunology specifically, we are preparing to lead in new areas like dermatology with a robust late and early pipeline, building on the robust differentiation and position build with Cimzia in rheumatology and its promising enter in dermatology. 
  • As innovation (mainly in digital technology & biological sciences) transforms the healthcare (HC) landscape, science and data become the foundation for pharma to meet the obligations/needs of patients and customers and realize commercial opportunities. Medical Affairs is up to deliver on this challenge by being uniquely positioned connect scientific knowledge across the value chain with patients in ecosystem and within the organization – hence we are also accelerating the strengthen of Medical Affairs capability in UCB.
  • Role purpose/summary
    • Medical Affairs accountability for Bimekizumab (BKZ) Benefit/Risk assessment across patient population, consequent communication and evidence generation, to drive robustly informed decision making for appropriate use to max patient benefit;
    • Medical Affairs accountability on development and execution of Risk Management Plans;
    • Coordinates lifecycle strategy medical evidence generation plans
    • This is a key transversal role in the Mission, in the Medical Strategy Team with responsibility span across patient populations, reporting to the Head, Medical Strategy.
    • Responsibilities are launch and lifecycle strategy critical and will involve transversal close and value driven collaboration with multiple stakeholders and functions both for strategic input & alignment and most effective tactical execution.
  • Key Accountabilities and responsibilities
    • Pro-active and continuous Medical Affairs interpretation of Benefit-Risk analysis, together with the Patient population Medical Leads and other key contributors (clinical development, safety, etc).
    • Due diligent assessment of Benefit-Risk through evaluation of the totality of product clinical data, drives appropriate regular cumulative data analysis updates
    • Drives appropriate contextualization of Benefit-Risk within each patient population clinical profile, disease management & pharmacological treatment and relevant comparisons with existing treatment options;
    • Anticipates external stakeholders’ enquiries & competitors’ position and pro-actively drive actions to address them; drives additional data generation as necessary
    • Collaborate with regulatory & safety teams to gather full knowledge of PV regulations/procedures and to drive translation of these into practical and meaningful risk management plans
    • Drives collaboration with relevant external experts for both outside-in (external perspective, collaboration and advocacy for Benefit-Risk activities) and equally inside-out (anticipate & take pro-active position on external initiatives relevant to Benefit-Risk position)
    • Drives cross-functional dialogue & input to align on the Benefit-Risk articulation and position for internal & external communication 
    • Drives the communication & messages specific to Benefit-Risk to be seamlessly integrated in the broader communication plans, materials (including training)
    • BKZ medical affairs representative (or back up) for the Benefit Risk Team and Global Labelling Committee
    • Engages with urgency and shares information with relevant stakeholders across functions and territories worldwide
  • Coordinates development of specific medical evidence generation plans for Lifecycle Strategy - supporting the BKZ Medical Strategy Lead and in collaboration with patient population Medical Leads/ teams.
  • Drives tailoring the plans to deliver information to answer needs of individual patients and stakeholders for max impact and drives consistency & synergy across patient populations and regions.
  • Collaborates with the Development Solution Unit teams and other stakeholders to lead pro-active, rapid-cycle, integrated evidence generation and with methods driving a rapid, time and cost-efficient manner.
  • Education, Experience, Skills
    • MD preferably or master/ PhD in life sciences; robust pharmaceutical medicine education and knowledge through direct experience;
    • Minimum 5-7years of pharmaceutical or biotechnology experience, including product launch;
    • Broad/robust Medical Affairs experience – including evidence generation strategy, planning, implementation and medical communications, including medical input & responsibilities in the Benefit-Risk assessment and activities; ideally experience in dermatology or biologics area
    • Experience in establishing successful external stakeholder interactions and collaborations (KOLs, professional groups) as part of medical strategy execution
  • Strong business acumen and ability to build strategic partnerships with cross functional teams
    • Understanding of drug development, clinical safety and commercial activities
  • Disease area experience in Psoriasis and/or Psoriatic Arthritis a plus
