To strengthen our Center of Excellence, based in our headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking to fill the position of: European Business Analyst 


Key capabilities and accountabilities:

  • Operational leadership – In conjoint with regional teams, he or she provide leadership within the Performance management, Analytics and Data “value chain” at European and Country level for the Immunology business. Acts as a business partner through deep ecosystem understanding, stimulating novel business thinking based on strong business insights and expertise ensuring holistic end-to-end best in class solutions and insights generation.
  • Collaboration - Co-create plans and set priorities for data and analytics, together with regional and local business and local business analyst.
  • Solution Excellence – Ensures right solutions (on time | on budget | meeting business requirements) are identified while driving, contributing and overseeing the execution of the Performance management and Analytical workstreams.
  • Deliver impactful results – Contribute to delivery of the most impactful data and analytics projects:
    1. through usage of the ‘narrative toolbox’ drive the identification of new opportunities for patients and UCB
    2. address the most compelling business questions that have highest change in impact generation
    3. Drives the implementation and follow through on analytics recommendations


On a day-to-day basis, this individual should focus her/his efforts on the analytics needs on the European Immunology business - iPVU:

  • Collaboration with the regional immunology leadership and solution team in context of data, analytics and performance management:
    • Partner with business in helping them to address their critical business questions that drives the immunology specific data strategy.
    • Define European wide immunology specific data strategy
    • Defines solutions and drives execution of project leveraging European or global capabilities and resources bot on & offshore:
      • KPI and Data strategy: ensures regional KPIs are defined and works with countries to ensure consistency in those KPIs feeding the European wide Immunology specific data Data strategy
      • Performance management: drives the monthly/quarterly performance management discussions with the regional and local leadership at European and national level.
      • Insight creation: drives, prepares and organizes deep dive insight creation workshops with the business.  feeding into their Budget and Local Patient Value Plan.
      • Advanced analytics: Contributes to the regionally driven Advanced Analytics initiatives ensures recommendations are taken up by local teams and ensures that recommendations are operationalized and followed through
      • Analytics Translation: turns analytical outcomes into recommendations ensuring insights are helpful for leadership to drive patient value creation
    • Builds a trusting relationship through deep market understanding and healthy debate
    • Works as team with Advanced Analytics Translators, Local Business Analyst, OE Solution Managers and OE Performance Managers
    • Ensures continued alignment with local Business Analysts


  • Develops and applies a deep understanding of patients, products, HCPs, other stakeholders while also building sound knowledge in data and advanced analytics techniques



Preferred Capabilities:

  • Communication. A clear, thorough and practical communicator with strong written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Someone who communicates frequently and proactively, who is skilled at telling a story and making complex concepts simple and actionable. Ability to build and deliver coherent storylines in powerpoint, and deliver clear, structured verbal messages while making presentations.
  • Business Acumen. Strategic, Financial and Analytical. Good at analyzing businesses and competitors, making connections and seeing opportunities. Someone who understands (or can quickly get up to speed on) the market dynamics and details of patients and the biotech and healthcare industries.
  • Leadership and stakeholder management. Has successful track record of leading and influencing individuals, teams and organizations. Managing expectations, defining priorities across different business stakeholders is a key required capability
  • Learning Agility. A quick learner; curious. Able to ask the right questions. Comfortable with ambiguity. Ability to process and make connections between different, sometimes ambiguous or contradictory data.
  • Self-awareness. Humility. Aware of strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for growth. Someone who asks for feedback, owns it, and acts on it.
  • Focused. Decisive. Ability to help teams and business leaders prioritize ideas, distilling them into strategies and tactics

Preferred Experiences: 

  • Minimum of 5-7 years total work experience in biotech/pharma or healthcare.
  • Experience in strategy, marketing, sales, data science, analytics, innovation or other quantitative or data-driven roles or functions;
  • Has deep ecosystem understanding of the country/area obtained through on the field experience or through business analyst activities in sales, medical, market access or finance
  • Strong appetite for data and analytics in context of solving business challenges
  • Fluent in English both written and verbal
