As part of UCB’s sustained and strategic commitment to patients, UCB will continue to focus on fact-based decision making. To enable this, three Insights-to-Impact (I2I) functions have been established within the Corporate Development and Finance function, which are acting as independent sparring partner to the R&D teams, providing Insights and a transversal resource reallocation challenge, while performing business planning.

 

The I2I R&D function focuses on all R&D activities across our portfolio (early and late stage), wherever they sit within UCB: Early Solutions, Development Solutions, Immunology Missions, Neurology Missions

 

The I2I R&D Global Business Analyst is part of the I2I R&D Insights & Analytics team, which develops a fact-based answer to the key strategic business questions, for benchmarking our R&D performance, and for developing an independent and transversal view of our assets and R&D activities

 

 

Accountabilities:

 

The Global Business Analyst focuses on the Neurology missions and takes up two main roles:

  1. Support the respective business partners in gaining a deep understanding of the market disease landscapes by providing business analytics, which includes:
  • Answering (commercially oriented) questions from global business partners (mission stakeholders, senior management, etc.) using all available data sources
  • Creating and maintaining the commercial market disease landscapes for the key countries
  • Working closely with business partners in the missions, and developing a deep understanding of business strategy, tactics, questions, priorities, etc.
  • Developing strong, synergistic relationships within the I2I functions, and works closely with people who have an analytics oriented role, e.g. the Global Analytics practice and the regional advanced & business analytics leads

 

  1. Be the thought-partner of the Neurology missions in the domain of Advanced Analytics (AA):
  • AA roadmap: Develop the Advanced Analytics roadmap in close collaboration with the business partners (understand business questions and needs, identify relevant AA use cases, drive working sessions with business partners, …)
  • AA delivery: Oversee the delivery of the Advanced Analytics projects, work closely together with Global Analytics / IT / external vendors on key analyses to be performed, and distill the key business implications and “so-whats”
  • Drive impact: Engage with respective stakeholders to help converting the AA Insights into impact (decisions, committed action plans, …)
  • AA champion: Drive cultural and mindset change within UCB to increase knowledge and adoption of AA

 

Profile:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Marketing, Science, …..) required. Master’s degree in scientific area is preferred
  • Extensive experience with the pharma industry, understanding key challenges, business questions and needs. Experience with UCB’s therapeutic areas, mainly Neurology is a plus (8-10 years of relevant professional experience)

 

  • Analytical power and business acumen to derive advanced insights
  • Ability to identify priorities, deadlines, and expectations on multiple tasks and execute tasks accordingly with a high degree of quality while managing to tight deadlines and changing business needs
  • Understanding of the Advanced Analytics applications (i.e., understand the various techniques, and what it can deliver). Consulting experience in the domain of Advanced Analytics is a plus
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and being known to articulate complex concepts in clear, brief and easy to understand manner
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to work in a highly networked and matrix organization
