Global Ethics & Compliance Programs – Centre of Expertise (COE), Head

 

Job Summary
 

The Ethics & Compliance Programs Centre of Expertise (E&C COE) is a shared services team that works in two distinct areas:  knowledge development and knowledge integration.  Team members of the COE work collectively, and collaboratively with subject matter experts, to deliver compliance programs to a team of regional programs leads for local implementation.  The Head of the COE sits on the Programs Leadership team.   The COE Head must have demonstrated experience in compliance programs, proven ability to deliver projects in a complex and diverse environment, as well as experience of leading a high performing team. 

 

Major Accountabilities
 

Manage a team of experts to deliver the following:

Knowledge Development: creating and improving E&C programs

  • Creating and improving E&C programs, tools, technologies
  • Ensuring E&C teams are trained and knowledgeable about E&C programs and relevant initiatives
  • Engaging externally to ensure UCB is represented at industry groups and associations

Knowledge Integration:  understanding UCB processes and ensuring alignment with E&C programs

  • Engaging internally by working with E&C stakeholders to understand business challenges and needs and corporate stakeholders such as talent, finance, legal, to share knowledge and understand enterprise or functional initiatives
  • Integrating UCB systems/process in relevant E&C programs and promoting E&C programs/initiatives within UCB

Education & Qualification
 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Project Planning, Scheduling and Tracking

Able to plan, schedule, track and manage multiple complex projects in parallel

Manages senior stakeholders and external customers

Produces concise dashboards for portfolio management and governance needs

Proactively identifies regional signals and trends that might have an impact on the project tracking and implementation

  • Uses own experience and holistic perspective of the project and its ecosystem to identify potential compliance risks owners that can help in assessing end to end associated risks
  • Has a deep insight of regional compliance risks and their associated impact on the regional organization
  • Coaches team, empowers otherlocal/regional stakeholders and promotes a compliance and risk management culture

Leading others

  • Provides coaching and support to team and colleagues to encourage learning and development
  • Communicates the vision and sense of purpose with enthusiasm, and ensures strategic priorities are understood and acted upon
  • Shows trust and provides learning opportunities to reports through delegation and opportunity for participation in new and stretching assignments
  • Accurately assesses each person’s strengths and uses them to get the best out of him or her
  • Motivates and influences a wide range of colleagues including direct reports, team members and project members
