Help us transform patients’ lives.

At UCB, we put our heart, soul and skills into making a difference for people living with severe disease. Working together to push the boundaries, we blend the best of our talents to unlock innovation. Will you join us in our pioneering adventure?

We are looking for a smart, talented and hands-on technology champion, to strengthen the Health IT team based in our Global HQ.

Job Description

The healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors were already data intensive and the global trends of digital, advanced analytics, IoT and open-source are bringing even more opportunities for innovation. At UCB we believe these technologies will fundamentally change the way healthcare systems deliver value, making it essential for UCB to connect science to solutions and these solutions to the right patients.

As the Health IT Technology lead, you will lead the way in exploring many of these new technologies and help evaluate and demonstrate how we can best leverage them. You are not bound by a specific domain and bring your expertise and ingenuity to a range of areas like big data management, real world data analysis, high performance computing… always looking on how to enhance, improve and complement the existing IT landscape.

Your main responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Experiment with new tools, deploying test areas, working prototypes and setting op proof-of-concepts to help UCB to firsthand experience the impact of exciting and promising technologies.
  • Bring your creative and can-do mindset to guide us through uncharted territory using your own technical skills and expertise to make it happen.
  • Go beyond the premise and effectively compare technology options for individual and larger problems, assure the overall capability domain is built out and identify the corporate wide requirements and gaps.
  • Interact with many different stakeholders, understanding their needs and aspirations, translating them into IT related challenges and to co-create innovative solutions.
  • Inspire and influence decisions makers by highlighting the impact technology can have for UCB, its partners and its patients.

To take on this challenge, you fit the following profile

  • You have a degree in a relevant field (computer sciences, engineering, biomedical sciences,…)  and have a first solid experience in a hands-on technology setting
  • You blend your passion of working with data and IT with a genuine interest in healthcare and biopharmaceutical research
  • Although not an expert in everything, you can keep your own in the world of linux servers, vm’s, databases and open-source packages
  • You have some familiarity with research data or healthcare data.
  • You have a first experience with tools used for data integration, analysis and/or (big) data analysis (R, SAS, Python,…).
  • You like to challenge and be challenged and thrive in a fast paced, changing environment in which you take accountability
  • You are a great communicator and story teller, able to work with and influence people with different personalities, expertise and backgrounds
  • You are relentless in quality and so are able to build trust and confidence
  • You are curious and driven, even when on unfamiliar terrain
  • You are fluent in English

Why you should apply

By taking on this new opportunity at UCB, you will be joining a dynamic, inspiring and innovative environment. You will bring real value to the company and to patients living with severe diseases. You will be recognized for impactful performance via a competitive compensation and benefits package and you will enjoy ample personal development opportunities.
