I2I R&D Insights Lead

As part of UCB’s sustained and strategic commitment to patients, UCB will continue to focus on fact-based decision making. To enable this, three Insights-to-Impact (I2I) functions have been established within the Corporate Development and Finance function, which are acting as independent sparring partner to the R&D teams, providing Insights and a transversal resource reallocation challenge, while performing business planning.

 

The I2I R&D function focuses on all R&D activities across our portfolio (early and late stage), wherever they sit within UCB: Early Solutions, Development Solutions, Immunology Missions, Neurology Missions

 

Within the I2I R&D function, the I2I R&D Insights & Analytics team is responsible for developing a fact-based answer to the key strategic business questions, for benchmarking our R&D performance, and for developing an independent and transversal view of our assets and R&D activities.

 

Your accountabilities:

 

Become the thought-partner of the business partners and I2I R&D Leads (Early Solutions, Development Solutions, Immunology Missions and Neurology Missions) by delivering fact-based Strategic Insights, and helping to convert the Insights to impact.

  • Deliver Strategic Insights: Jointly develop the strategic business questions, tap into a variety of Insight sources to address the business questions, and develop a strategic, end-to-end perspective of our R&D portfolio
  • Drive impact: Engage with respective stakeholders to help converting the Insights into impact
  • Insights sources: Find, create and manage sources of Insights, and co-develop the market research (MR) and competitive intelligence (CI) roadmap delivered by the Global Insights team. Note: The I2I R&D team will not be commissioning any primary market research or competitive intelligence
  • Ecosystem evolutions: Understand and anticipate external changes in the R&D domain, among competitors, patients and other stakeholders. Interpret what this means for UCB and recommend how UCB should respond
  • Be the connector on transversal topics between the I2I R&D domains (Early solutions, Development Solutions, Immunology Missions and Neurology missions), as well as with other I2I team (Go-to-market, and Supply, Technology & Functions) and Portfolio Management
  • Develops strong, synergistic relationships within the I2I functions, and the respective business partners. Effectively navigate all levels of the organization.
  • Use and build an external network and reputation to attract top talent, great partners and great ideas into UCB

 

Your profile:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree (Business Administration, Marketing, Science, …..) required. Master’s degree in scientific area is preferred
  • In-depth knowledge of Strategic Insights generation in the domain of research and development (min of 8-10 years of Strategic Insights, Competitive Intelligence or related experience)
  • Pharma experience required, experience with UCB’s therapeutic areas (and mainly Immunology) is a plus
  • Experience in pharmaceutical portfolio or strategy teams, or strategy consulting is a plus
  • Ability to think strategic and holistic, connecting the dots between variety of insight sources, and synthesizing the key implications
  • Analytical power and business acumen to derive advanced insights
  • Ability to identify priorities, deadlines, and expectations on multiple tasks and execute tasks accordingly with a high degree of quality while managing to tight deadlines and changing business needs
  • Skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships and being known to articulate complex concepts in clear, brief and easy to understand manner
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to work in a highly networked and matrix organization
