International Markets Pricing Lead

 

This role is to be based at UCB Corporate Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium (preferred location), UCB UK office in Slough, UK, or remotely. This is a key global role within the Global Patient Access (GPA) Practice.  The successful candidate will be responsible for i) leading the International Markets (IM) operational pricing activities across the UCB portfolio such as preparation, approval & escalation of pricing business cases, acting as the global pricing partner to local affiliates (50% of time), and ii) co-developing the pricing & access strategy for key international markets for late-stage assets in preparation for launch. Depending on the profile of the candidate (Director vs. Associate Director), the successful candidate will also be responsible for the global pricing strategy of a late stage (Phase III) asset depending on business needs. 

 

International Market Pricing operations: the successful candidate will lead the International Markets operational pricing activities across the UCB portfolio. Please note that International Markets cover all geographies ex-US & ex-EU, including Australia, Canada, China & Japan

 

-             Act as key pricing partner, trusted expert and thought-leader to the IM local pricing teams, establishing regular points of contact across countries, especially in the key markets (China, Japan, Canada, Turkey)

-             Support the local affiliates prepare, analyze and escalate as needed any pricing business cases (i.e. new launches, indication expansions, entering the reimbursed market, pricing change to respond to competitor entry, etc)

-             Identify evolving trends from the business cases (i.e. greater price transparency requests, increasing IRP risk) and initiate workstreams to mitigate/utilize impact of such trends

-             Influence peers, cross-functional leaders and senior management during the discussion and escalation of the different business cases

-             Co-lead the development of IM Pricing & Access strategies for late assets in close partnership with the Global Pricing Asset Lead (i.e. establish launch sequence for IM, develop appropriate value based agreements and other innovative solutions)

 

Phase III - Global Pricing Lead :

The successful candidate will be responsible for bringing payer insight, strategic thinking and technical expertise to all aspects of pricing strategy development in a way that optimizes the value of the asset to patients and payers. The role requires strong collaboration with other functional Asset Lads (commercial, access, medical, etc) and the overall Payer Value Strategy Lead to ensure the pricing strategy is built around a compelling value proposition for all stakeholders, ensuring that is meaningful to payers, specific for a well-defined patient subpopulation, sustainably differentiated, aligned with available evidence and insight and equipped with appropriate future evidence generation plans. The global pricing strategy should be future-proofed, and hence based on insightful analysis of emerging trends in major payer systems around the world. The specific asset to be supported will be decided based on business needs and IM workload, along with the profile of the candidate.

 

Finally, as a member of the Global Pricing team, the successful candidate will contribute to the management of the global pricing operations at UCB, including the run and maintenance of pricing governance (regional and global pricing committees, pricing boards, etc), optimization of different global pricing tools (pricing databased, dashboards, etc) and contribute to any projects related to UCB’s overall corporate pricing strategy.

 

 JOB PROFILE

Educated at least to MD, PharmD or graduate level in life sciences or economics; candidates are likely to have a PhD and an MBA or similar qualification. 

Experience

•            Minimum 5 (Associate director)/8 (Director) years of (hands-on) experience in designing global price & access strategies, overseeing market access, Health Economics/health outcomes-research or health policy – related projects and activities including economic modeling, HTA submissions, payer insights generation and reviews in Pharma or Biotech industry, consultancy, University research center or Health Technology Assessment body

•            No prior experience in price & reimbursement processes in International Markets is required although it is desirable
