Within the global UCB IT organization, the mission of the IT clinical solution team is to accelerate and transform the process by which UCB develops differentiated solutions, enabling a positive patient experience, facilitating patient access and contributing to the delivery of superior health outcomes.

As the IT Lead Core Clinical Systems, in partnership with your stakeholders you will define the future vision, including architectural landscape & roadmap whilst ensuring whilst ensuring compliant operations of the major applications in the clinical functional domain. Based on this we will assure that all our clinical partners are integrated into the UCB clinical tech landscape.  


The role is based in Belgium


Your main responsibilities


As the IT Lead Core Clinical Systems, you will:


  • Contribute to the relevant streams of the digital business transformation program (TTI) of development solutions
  • Run proof of concepts with new technology, for example the use of blockchain for the clinical study data flow process
  • Projects to manage the lifecycle of the systems involved:
    • upgrade of clinical trial management system (CTMS) – IMPACT
    • further evolution and automation of the platform used for the electronic trial master file (eTMF)
    • new integrations and enhancements of MEDIDATA – ACQUIRE, used for electronic data capture (EDC)
    • retirement and decommissioning of Oracle Clinical
  • Be responsible for defining and monitoring the budget for your team and projects.  
  • Develop and build a team that lives the UCB values and that can operate in an agile environment. Your team consists of 2 internals and 3 externals.
  • Operate the core clinical systems, manage the incidents, implement functional enhancements and ensure access management, incl. vendor and license management
  • Ensure the integration of partner technologies within the UCB tech landscape
  • Support the technology assessment during scouting or new tech vendor selection.
  • Prepare and manage UCB audits and (external) inspections in collaboration with the IT compliance team, the respective IT system owners and process data owners

  • A relevant degree (masters/bachelors) and affinity with IT and Systems
  • + 3 years of experience in a similar role  
  • Meaningful relevant and demonstrable experience in managing teams/projects in an IT environment
  • Successful project delivery & operations in GxP environment
  • Process oriented and able to deal with high complexity
  • Passion for technology and ability to deep-dive when needed
  • Fluent in English
