To strengthen our IT team in the Brussels Area, we are looking to fill the position of the IT Lead – Data Solutions & Services, accelerating the use of high-quality data as the engine for our digital business transformation.

Job Description


The healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors were already data-intensive, and the global trend of digitization combined with major advancements in life sciences research is bringing even more opportunities for innovation. In that context, efficient, secure and performant solutions, services and capabilities are required to enable the wider organization to leverage that data to its full effect.


As the IT Lead for Data Solutions & Services, you will be in charge of defining/improving and running these transversal data services and oversee the core technology solutions required to execute them. That also includes coordinating the IT activities when dealing with exceptionally challenging data requirements. 


You will not be bound by a specific domain but are eager to tackle the many different challenges that come with the various types of data one can find in a biopharmaceutical setting. You will draw from the expertise of your IT domain colleagues and technical experts.


Your main responsibilities


In this role, you will take ownership of multiple technologies and service processes that are required to truly leverage data in a digital business transformation. You will be responsible for:

•    Defining, implementing, operating and communicating on key transversal data services, capabilities and processes. By analyzing common opportunities, recurring challenges and the UCB data strategy, you will design discreet services plus solutions and optimize them to assure smooth data operations across UCB.
•    Leading and organizing the efforts from supporting IT departments for data challenges in transversal and complex projects and initiatives.
•    Overseeing the practical implementation of core data enablement technologies (e.g. catalogues, jump hosts, encryption, mapping pipelines, vocabularies). 
•    The creation of the required documentation, training material, support capacity and back-office organization.
•    Taking on the operational management and system ownership of transversal platforms established by the entire Health IT and data enablement team will also be your responsibility.
To take on this challenge, you fit the following profile
•    You have a bachelor or higher degree in engineering or sciences
•    You have proven experience in either consulting, data management, technology operations or service management
•    You can demonstrate a good understanding of current data management and digital transformation topics and common technology solutions
•    Your understanding of the biomedical research, biopharma, regulatory and compliance context is a plus.
•    You show competency and hands-on experience in data IT technology and associated fields like cloud computing, network security…
•    You have experience in project management.
•    You love organizing things and can define operating procedures and best practices.
•    You can break down complex problems and structure arguments, options and solutions
•    You are a great communicator and storyteller, able to work with and influence people with different personalities, expertise and backgrounds
•    You thrive in a fast-paced, changing environment, and like to challenge and to be challenged
•    You are relentless in quality; you build trust and confidence
•    You are fluent in English
