To strengthen our Immunology PVU (Patient Value Unit), based in Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway or Finland, we are looking to fill the position of: Area Ecosystem Head Immunology Northern Europe.

As a UCB 'entreprecurious' person and Area Ecosystem Head Immunology Northern Europe you like to work in an environment where you can:


  • Lead Teams/Partner in Teams: Strong leadership skills to co-ordinate across 6 cross functional, integrated ecosystem teams in immunology with 8 direct reports and 40 indirect reports.
  • Be a strong team player as member of the European Immunology Leadership Team identifying and sharing best practice across EU territories and be a close partner to Area Head of Northern Europe in co-ordinating shared transversal resources for. The successful candidate will also oversee focused launch preparations of UCBs new asset Bimekizumab in a highly competitive and evolving indication of the market.
  • Build Relationships and Use Influence: Excellent communication skills and strong interpersonal skills as well as strong ability to influence and engage with people at all levels of the organization and the external world.
  • Demonstrate Business Acumen: strong business understanding and dynamics required in the fast-growing / fast-changing specialty pharmaceutical environment and ability to develop innovative solutions to scale and grow a business.

As a UCB 'entreprecurious' person and Area Ecosystem Head Immunology Northern Europe you will contribute by:


  • Promoting engagement and coordination across all 6 local ecosystem teams, working in a matrix environment encompassing both UCB and partner team members, including alignment as appropriate with all stakeholders involved.
  • Overseeing the cross-functional collaboration between the Ecosystem Leads, Solution Leads Area Scientific Lead, Area Launch Leads and coordinate tactical details of strategic plans to maximize synergies and eliminate redundancies.
  • Ensuring that each Local Eco-system teams is working towards EU strategy that is based on key insights for unique characteristics of the ecosystem, and designed to maximize patient value creation and advance Immunology brand objectives.
  • Having full immunology P&L responsibility and delivery of financial targets, and therefore being the one of the key contributors for delivering value for Patients in Northern Europe.
  • The Ecosystem Head sets the overall Area Patient Value Plan, Stakeholder facing strategy and ensures alignment of objectives across the different ecosystems in his/her Area. He/she ensures resources and initiatives are deployed to drive highest possible value through in-depth knowledge of ecosystem(s) drivers in assigned area.  The Ecosystem Head orchestrates the use of UCB resources “in the right places at the right times” to maximize patient value creation and appropriate use of UCB promoted drugs.
  • The Ecosystem Head ensures that the different Ecosystems in the area operates to highest standards of ethics, compliance and quality when educating, promoting, selling and distributing its products by complying with UCB code of business conduct and industry guidelines


Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:


  • Background preferably both medical and commercial, i.e both infield medical, marketing and sales or commercial with documented close interaction with Medical. A multi country experience from Northern Europe or having worked at individual Northern Europe country and regional/global level.
  • Minimum 15 years of in the pharma/biotech pharma/biotech industry within specialty pharmaceuticals with recent years in senior role. Immunology expertise and particularly dermatology preferred but not a must. Experience from multiple biologics and MoAs is an extra merit.
  • Strong technical expertise across the development and commercialization spectrum
  • Proven track record of successful launches
  • Solid experience of working cross functionally in matrix organization across local and regional structures.
  • Comes from a strong development heritage and, preferably, will have experience managing across the full range of medical and commercial line (data dissimenation, KOL advocacy, market access, product launch, marketing and commercialization), and will bring an understanding of “what is essential” to drive the development program forward and the establishment of novel business
  • International mindset is a must for the role
  • Strong leadership skills, delivering through collaboration and creating the right conditions for colleagues and able to set up a new team
