To strengthen our Patient Value Unit Medical Affairs, based either in The Netherlands or Belgium, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of:

 

 

Medical Information Partner Benelux

As a Medical Information Partner Benelux, you understand patients’ and physicians’ needs and offer answers and solutions in accordance with UCB Cares service and Patient Experience values within the established compliance and integrity frameworks.

 

A part of the role is the coordination of “Patient Experience” (PEx) activities across all country Patient Value Units (PVUs) in Benelux. The vision of PEx is to empower people affected by severe disease and who are prescribed UCB medicines, to live life as they choose, elevating their (treatment) journey by delivering the best individual experience. The engagement partner will support in the identification, development and implementation of (country) PEx initiatives/ patient solutions.

 

In addition, you will interact (primarily by phone/via email) with patients, caregivers or other relevant stakeholders in the Benelux region, in order to seek answers to support patients’ needs before or during their treatment with UCB products. Patient calls may be related to any type of question or need for support that a patient might have during their treatment journey (medical/scientific inquiries, adverse events, product complaints, disease states or solutions regarding UCB’s products). The service is also available to physicians or caregivers. On a factual base all responses should be timely, accurate and ethical and drawn on information, expertise and knowledge from within the company. Moreover, the Medical Information Partner makes the patient feel understood and supported through human-centred communication.

 

As this is a role covering the Benelux there’s future potential to develop into a Northern European levelled position.

As a UCB 'scieninspiring' person, you will contribute by:

 

  • Interact closely across the functional and cross-functional team within the different PVUs (Immunology, Osteoporosis, Neurology and Established Brands) to be updated on new product information and data.
  • Support in the identification, development and implementation of (country) PEx initiatives/ patient solutions.
  • Ensure that PEx initiatives and solutions included in Patient Value Plans are in line with patient’s needs.
  • Engaging with patients. Follow up on patient calls in case it was agreed upon with patients.
  • Refer to the top service standard as prescribed in the UCB Cares Service book and escalate appropriate inquiries within the team and beyond in order to produce a complete, helpful and constructive response. Be ready to go the extra-mile to provide an excellent service to patients, beyond expectations.
  • Receive incoming requests via telephone, e-mail or company internet site, basically from patients and caregivers (or from HCPs on their behalf) regarding UCB products, solutions or disease states.
  • Respond to inquiries in a timely manner (within agreed timeframes) utilizing approved materials (e.g. Prescribing Information/Summary of product Characteristics (SmPC), Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), and Standard Response Documents, as well as solutions developed by Patient Value Units (PVUs).
  • Record relevant Adverse Event and Product Complaint information to allow complete and accurate documentation of all inquiries into the inquiries database (IRMS).
  • Gather and share patient insights (and success stories) with the functional and cross-functional team and with the UCB Cares EU community.
  • Communicate findings and insights in a confident way and follow-up on actions with relevant stakeholders.
  • Collaborate closely with the UCB Cares EU engine, PEx EU engine, country PVUs, Global MI and wider teams to work on best solutions for patients.
  • Adapt the global/EU PEx strategy and solutions to the needs and opportunities within the country ecosystems.

 

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

 

  • Life Science graduate (MSc. or PhD) with min. 3 years’ experience in a pharma company or relevant Medical Information related experience, within a Customer Service or Customer engagement or similar position.
  • Able to operate with minimal supervision but know when to consult/inform a senior manager.
  • Ability to work productively in a team environment. Thinking beyond team and national boundaries is essential.
  • Ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and actively execute tasks within defined objectives;
  • Strong service attitude and customer-oriented approach, including patience, curiosity, pro-active learning and will to exceed patients’ expectations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities. Required languages are ENG & NL (FR is a plus).
  • Ability to communicate information effectively and clearly at levels appropriate to the needs of those seeking information (e.g. patients, healthcare professionals).
  • Listening skills to understand (facts-based as well as emotional) patient needs, gain maximum insights and build trust comes natural to you.
  • Strong social skills to build up generative and trustful relationships with colleagues and patients alike and work effectively in interdisciplinary and multinational/multicultural teams;
  • Awareness of current opportunities, challenges and trends in the field of patient services and solutions.
  • A driven, entrepreneurial, energetic individual with experience of operating to the professional pharmaceutical standards.
