Project Management Method & Standards Lead


To strengthen our Early Missions team based in either our UK, Slough office or our Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Project Management Method & Standards Lead.


As the R&D Project Management Operations role, you will develop, implement and continually improve UCB’s project management Methods and Standards for Product Development.


You like to work in an environment where you can:

  • Partner with stakeholders across the organization to identify and prioritize the company’s PM needs based on the highest value creation for patients.
  • Lead the implementation of project management methods, standards and technology in a consistent way based on these needs.
  • Be an expert in Project Management methods and standards and will be a reference point by the broader UCB Project Management community.


You will contribute by:

  • Tailoring external standards to UCB for all aspects of project knowledge areas including integration, scope, schedule, cost, quality, resource, communications, risk, procurement and stakeholder management.
  • Identifying needs for specific tools (e.g. Stakeholder Management or Risk Analysis), working with IT on project management informatics and data, and partnering with the Insights to Impact R&D group on the Integrate (Planisware) platform.
  • Connecting with the broader UCB Project Management Community to share knowledge and best practices from different areas.
  • Collaborating with Mission Teams, Sponsors and Program/Project Managers to co-create methods and standards as well as educate the organization on best practice.
  • Partnering with External providers to procure resources necessary for methods and standards development.


Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • Extensive experience in a Project Management role, within the Research and Development setting in the Pharmaceutical Industry.  
  • Previous experience and postgraduate qualification are preferable.
  • Experience of working with global, multi-cultural, diverse teams, with demanding timelines and complex deliverables.
  • Demonstrable experience partnering with sponsors, stakeholders and teams to establish a safe, collaborative environment for effective project communications and manages change by motivating towards common goals while championing conflict resolution.
