RWE European Solutions Lead

II. THE POSITION 

 

As an RWE Scientist, you will be responsible for designing and executing projects using real-world data to:

  • inform strategic internal decision-making thereby empowering differentiating R&D activities within UCB
  • support external decision making by key stakeholder groups such as policy makers, payers, and prescribers
  • contribute to the wider epidemiological and medical understanding of specific diseases

 

Furthermore, as an RWE Scientist you will contribute by:

  • Coordinate and lead the EU RWE execution based on EU strategies, priorities and tactical planning
  • Strategically supports & orients the planning & generation of scientific initiatives in Europe, ensuring their on-strategy and alignment with the missions
  • Understanding, collecting, sharing of ongoing RWE needs and activities in all EU areas
  • Accountable to build internal understanding of & commitment to the Epilepsy/MD Strategic Drivers & Priorities.
  • Identifies, develops and executes solutions specific to area/ecosystem needs
  • Develops globally aligned EU strategies and priorities aligned to area and network needs of common interest.
  • Track and monitor performance and takes corrective actions during business reviews where needed
  • Create the EU Omni-channel strategy together with the omni-channel manager starting from the stakeholder/customer needs and connects with the areas for execution. Aligns with the practice and mission teams
  • Building up of a EU network/community of RWE experts across the EU sharing knowledge and implementing strategy
  • Engaging  in data gap analysis, advising on the optimal way (e.g. registry, NIS, Big data, audit) to address strategic data gaps in collaboration with the RWE practice
  • Contributes to publication and communication plans
  • Connector and close collaborator for RWE with missions, the practice, market access and new meds being part of a global network taking accountability to share the global plan and gathering ongoing input of local needs

 

Key Activities:

  • Gathers and translates stakeholder’s insights from the areas into solutions addressing patient’s needs and levels up to the missions. Shares insights at EU and global level and uses them to localize global/EU solutions
  • Localizes global strategies and solutions into EU specific priorities fitting the needs of patients in different ecosystem(s) and drives execution through the UCB networks & project teams
  • Coordinate and lead the EU and local patient value planning based on EU strategies, priorities and tactical planning
  • Strategically supports & orients the planning & generation of scientific initiatives in Europe, ensuring their on-strategy and alignment with the missions
  • Accountable to build internal understanding of & commitment to the Epilepsy/MD Strategic Drivers & Priorities.
  • Identifies, develops and executes solutions specific to area/ecosystem needs
  • Develops globally aligned EU strategies and priorities aligned to area and network needs of common interest.
  • Track and monitor performance and takes corrective actions during business reviews where needed
  • Create the EU Omni-channel strategy together with the omni-channel manager starting from the stakeholder/customer needs and connects with the areas for execution. Aligns with the practice and mission teams
  • Key source of local insight transformation from areas to global teams and vice versa
  • Take ownership and delivery of EU objectives (assigned ones)
  • Works closely with the content team e.g. regarding updating  materials, adapting EU solutions/materials 
  • Key interface with EU colleagues in market access, content, RWE, technology, patient experience to ensure implementation of holistic & integrated plans

 

Key Activities regarding RWE focus:

  • Builds up a matrix team (area level) to address RWE with a deep understanding of the science, disease and treatment responsible for:
    • Understanding, collecting, sharing of ongoing RWE needs and activities in all EU areas
    • Building up of a EU network/community of RWE experts across the EU sharing knowledge and implementing strategy
    • Engaging  in data gap analysis, advising on the optimal way (e.g. registry, NIS, Big data, audit) to address strategic data gaps in collaboration with the RWE practice
    • Contributes to publication and communication plans
  • Applies expertise to gather, interpret, plan and generate RWE from different sources supporting the implementation of UCB’s near- and long-term strategy
  • Connector and close collaborator for RWE with missions, the practice, market access and new meds being part of a global network taking accountability to share the global plan and gathering ongoing input of local needs

 

Key Deliverables:

  • Key EU enabler role through localisation of global solutions to EU and area needs, regulations and opportunities
  • Coordinates and contributes to EU PVP planning and solution development (incl. digital/multichannel)
  • Provides guidance & directions to EU strategic initiatives with mid- and long-term impact and contributes to establishing UCB as a preferred partner for HCPs, external networks and patients
  • Drives communication and execution of strategy
  • Proactively interacts as a key connector and contributor to the missions communicating EU insights

 

Key deliverables regarding RWE focus:

  • Mapping and sharing of all RWE activities at EU and area level
  • Defining EU RWE generation and communication strategy in alignment and close collaboration with missions, practice and market access taking into account the area needs and initiatives
  • Building up of a EU network/community of RWE experts across the EU sharing knowledge and implementing strategy
  • Contribution to and accountable for sharing the global RWE plan

Close alignment and building up of an integrated network between MA, Practices, Market Access, Missions, New Meds and areas

 

III. PROFILE

 

  • Minimally required experience: 3 years successfully delivering global and/or local RWE projects (studies using large healthcare databases, prospective observational studies, epidemiology support of drug safety…) from conceptualisation to publication within the pharmaceutical industry or with a recognised expert consultancy or academic centre of excellence; demonstrable publication record in relevant peer reviewed scientific and/or clinical journals
  • Desirable/preferred experience: medical doctor or a master in science
  • Experience in Market Access is an added value

 

Technical Expertise/Skills

  • Training in the areas of epidemiology, pharmacoepidemiology, outcomes research, health economics, biostatistics, data science or related fields
  • Good background knowledge of industry trends and best practices, specifically related to epidemiology/outcomes research
  • Good knowledge and understanding of applicable regulations in pharmacovigilance and clinical development
  • Ability to solve scientific and technical questions/problems related to the epidemiology and pharmacovigilance environment
  • Expertise in the EU5 healthcare environment (and changes therein)
  • Ability to leverage changes in healthcare systems to help plan and drive development of innovative patient access solutions in support of UCB compounds, resulting in value for institutional/individual stakeholders in addition to patients and physicians

 

Communication

  • Excellent and effective oral/written skills in English
  • Proven ability to write/edit scientific communications (abstracts, poster presentations, podium presentations, manuscripts, etc.)
  • Able to deliver presentations to senior management or industry audiences with a relaxed and proficient presentation style
