EU Real World Evidence Partner


Scope of the role

The EU Real-World Evidence (RWE) partner Bone is accountable for the co-creation of the RWE generation strategy at EU level in order to optimize patient care and access for UCB therapies. In full alignment with the global RWE Practice strategy, the Bone Unit strategic imperatives and country area evidence needs, the RWE Partner:


  • Interprets local gap analyses, advising on the optimal way to address evidence generation needs at a local/regional/global level (avoid duplication and alignment across local activities; identifying synergies and map cross-country applicability of a certain project)
  • Ensures the local partners are aware of the high level regional & global RWE strategic plans in order to support framing the local RWE business questions at a regional level for inclusion in the global strategic and/or tactical plan
  • Ensures alignment between local & regional evidence generation activities
  • Elevates the relevant studies to the global teams for review, input & approval to maximize potential of positive impact (quality) & protect UCB reputation (risk)
  • Supports the existing governance bodies (DIAnE, Data Interpretation, Analysis and Evaluation) from a medical perspective aligning and recommending appropriate studies to generate missing data at regional and area level while ensuring alignment with global strategic publication plans
  • Builds an EU wide RWE network and community collecting, guiding, strategically aligning and sharing area initiatives
  • Communicates the RWE insights & potential impact on external stakeholders to internal stakeholders (knowledge management / best practice sharing)
  • Builds up RWE awareness & competencies in Medical and Market Access EU


Key Activities:

  • Works in a matrix environment to address RWE generation at EU level with a deep understanding of the science, disease and treatment.
  • Understanding, collecting, sharing of ongoing RWE needs and activities in all EU areas
  • Supporting the local countries with implementation of the RWE tactical plans, including the potential for coordination of multi-country studies at EU level
  • Building up of a EU network of RWE experts across the EU sharing knowledge and implementing strategy
  • Engaging in data gap analysis together with the practice, missions and global operations, advising on the optimal way (e.g. registry, NIS, Big data, audit…etc) to address strategic evidence gaps
  • Contributing to publication and communication plans
  • Applies expertise to gather, interpret, plan and generate RWE from different sources supporting the implementation of UCB’s near- and long-term strategy
  • Connector and close collaborator for RWE with medical affairs, missions, the practice, market access and new meds being part of a global network taking accountability to share the global plan and gathering ongoing input of local needs


Key Deliverables:

  • Mapping and sharing of all RWE activities at EU and area level, including planning and budget monitoring
  • Defining EU RWE generation and communication strategy in alignment and close collaboration with missions, practice and market access taking into account the area needs and initiatives
  • Supporting areas with evidence generation plans, advising on the optimal way to address evidence generation and implementing strategy
  • Contributing and accountable for sharing the global RWE plan
  • Close alignment and building up of an integrated network between MA, Practices, Market Access, Missions, New Meds and areas


Your qualifications and experience level for this role:

  • University degree in sciences or medicine discipline, preferred University degree in Health Economics, Health Outcome Research, Public Health or related discipline.
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in global or regional medical affairs or market access-related positions or related customer-facing roles in the (bio) pharmaceutical industry or consulting including an understanding of the EU and country ecosystems.
  • In depth knowledge and experience in generating and analyzing RWE data (Registries, Audits, IIS, NIS e.g.). Experience in setting up a regional or global RWE strategy.
  • HEOR knowledge preferable.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and an effective team player with credible expertise and knowledge of delivering innovative and successful access strategies for the enablement of a strong and successful Market Access function.
  • Creative mind-set, can-do attitude and hands-on problem-solving skills, while able to think strategically with the “big picture” in mind
  • Strong negotiation, influencing and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to operate strongly in a multi-disciplinary matrix environment
  • Being comfortable in a fluid and changing environment
  • Ability to work successfully with external vendors, consultants and academics across different countries
