To strengthen our Early Research and Development Team, based in our Boston office in Bedford, MA, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Associate Director - Vector Analytical Development Lead.

 

You like to work in an environment where you can:

Support multiple therapeutic gene therapy programs by leading AAV vector analytical process development activities, and providing testing assistance to research grade vector production

 

Major Accountabilities

  • Hands-on technical leadership and managerial responsibility for analytical development team
  • Establish and optimize analytical processes for multiple programs
  • Assist in testing of research grade viral vector (AAV) production – shake flask to 50L bioreactor scale
  • Responsible for testing schedule and data reporting along with maintenance of bioassays
  • Support establishment of Lab Information Management System (LIMS) and automation capability across vector core operations, including analytical development.     
  • Collaborate with upstream development, downstream development, vector biology and vector production teams
  • Ability to function independently and cross functionally across various UCB teams (process development engineers, cell biologists, disease area experts, antibody engineers, etc)
  • Ability to manage priorities, and engage/communicate in a multidisciplinary environment

 

Education and Qualification

  • Ph.D in virology, molecular biology, biology or related field is required
  • 3-5 years of viral vector analytics or production experience in industrial research or contract manufacturing setting required
  • Preclinical drug discovery experience with biologics is required
