To strengthen our Global Clinical Development (GCD) community, based in one of our offices in Monheim, Germany, Brussels, Belgium, Slough, UK or Raleigh in the US we are looking for a: Head of GCD Medical Devices.

 

You like to work in an environment where you can:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Lead for Global Clinical Development the evolution and maintenance of an asset-agnostic medical device clinical development framework spanning combination products and class I-III devices, including Drug Delivery Devices, Software as Medical Devices, non-regulated and regulated Wearables, and In Vitro Diagnostics/Companion Diagnostics.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Lead an UCB-internal advice and co-creation forum covering all aspects related to medical-device development as well as deployment of medical devices in clinical trials.

 

You will contribute by:

 

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Being an ad hoc member on UCB’s governance body for medical device development and engaging with project teams to enable decision making for asset-related devices.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Representing GCD on our Study Concept Review Committee for trials involving or targeting medical devices.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Representing GCD on the relevant technology programs to support innovative solutions and devices that objectively capture and measure disease-specific parameters enabling patients to participate in decentralized clinical trials.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">On assigned projects, leading the development and subsequent revisions of device-related aspects of the strategic Clinical Development Plan ensuring strategic alignment with the Target Patient Value Profile and representing contemporary research approaches across all phases (feasibility, validation, approval, post approval).
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Developing and maintaining a strong knowledge base of the medical device landscape, relevant device development pathways, technological advances and pertinent regulations and drive awareness across GCD, and deliver integrated development strategies and plans in close collaboration with subject matter experts in other functional groups.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Maintaining excellent working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure patient-driven and patient-oriented innovative device development strategies, based on deep understanding of most recent medical, scientific, regulatory, commercial, and external insights.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Being accountable for budget preparation and delivery according to allocated budget.
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Managing recruitment, training and deployment of staff to ensure optimal design and delivery of studies and programs in an effective manner. 

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Basic Qualifications:

        

  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Master’s degree required
  • <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Minimum of 7 years of experience in both biopharmaceutical-clinical development and medical device development.  

  
<span style="font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Preferred Qualifications

  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">PhD, M.D., PharmD preferred
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ideally previous experiencing in building and leading a medical device group within a pharma company.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Demonstrable evidence of successful implementation of innovative device development solutions.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Flexible and inspirational leadership that values and demonstrates partnership, with an ability to articulate a clear vision that links all aspects of clinical development work and that of its partners.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Proven track record in medical device development across different classes and modalities (including but not limited to Drug Delivery Devices, Software as Medical Devices, non-regulated and regulated Wearables, and In Vitro Diagnostics/Companion Diagnostics) and demonstrated appropriate risk-based approach.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Current, expert knowledge and global view of all aspects of the global clinical development and clinical device development processes, including regulatory landscape.
  • <span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Sense of urgency with the ability to plan strategically with the end in mind, and implement effectively. Desired
