To strengthen our Early Solutions Team, based in our Bedford Office in Boston, MA, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Research Associate in Protein Purification.

 

As a Research Associate in Protein Purification you will perform basic laboratory activities within the Protein Purification group with supervision to support early solutions research at UCB.

 

You will contribute by:

Executing day to day laboratory activities with supervision to support Early Solutions research at UCB. The Research Associate (RA) will be trained in their basic responsibilities in their first year so that that they are able to consistently perform their duties with minimal supervision, and will be challenged with more advanced purifications as they advance in their position. 

Responsibilities in the Protein Purification Group Laboratory include but are not limited to the following: 

  • Execute all methods and techniques required to perform purification of soluble and secreted proteins utilizing the ӒKTA platform, SDS-PAGE, and TFF;
  • Characterization of proteins via HPLC and western blotting;
  • Understanding of basic principles of recombinant protein expression, tagging schemes, and chromatography;
  • Documentation and reporting of all data in company databases;
  • Routine cleaning and maintenance of all purification equipment and stocking supplies;
  • Maintaining high scientific standards in alignment with UCB’s patient value strategy;
  • Joining at least one project team and learning about project activities outside of the Purification group.

      Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 1-2 Years of relevant lab experience (academic or industrial)
