Job Summary  

This position will serve as a contributor to the molecular biology part of the gene therapy vector core being building to support AAV vector development, optimization and lead identification. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in molecular biology with preferably some experience in gene therapy.  This position will be based at our laboratories in the greater Boston area (Bedford MA).

 

Primary responsibilities:

  • Design and rapid execution of AAV transgene design, testing, and optimization cycles including assessment of relevant biology in collaboration with global teams
  • Work closely with vector core members to ensure appropriate high-quality data packages are generated to prioritize and select candidates for development
  • Provide scientific insight in gene therapy projects and platform, including strong scientific thinking and hypothesis development, in collaboration with cross-functional global teams at UCB and with partner companies and research institutes
     

Education and experience:

  • MS/PhD in applicable field with record of scientific achievement as evidenced by publications, presentations, or patents
  • 3+ years of experience in application of molecular biology
  • Experience of applying cellular and biochemical techniques in gene therapy preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in a matrixed drug discovery environment including working globally
  • Experience in molecular biology approaches and advanced cell biology techniques as relates to viral work (flow cytometry, gene and protein analysis, PCR, cloning)
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and engage/communicate in a multidisciplinary environment
