Research Scientist – Functional Genomics

Primary Responsibilities of the Position: 

  • Develop, troubleshoot, and qualify new assay methods, including in vitro and cell-based assays
  • Optimization of assays for array-based screens and high-content imaging with automation
  • Accountability for achieving project milestones and delivering on objectives.
  • Drive scientific excellence and technology evaluations to maximize impact on the program and projects.
  • Drive implementation of technology developments assisting the understanding of the molecular mechanisms of potential therapeutics.
  • Provide strong scientific thinking, develop hypotheses and drive scientific learnings on projects.
  • Ensure impactful project contributions through effective internal and external collaboration.


Education and Experience: 

  • BS or MS with 3-5 years of applicable research experience, with excellent scientific track record.  
  • Direct experience of the design, development, optimization and prosecution of applying molecular and CRISPRa/i/KO techniques for target validation, drug discovery screening and evaluating the mechanism of action of novel molecular entities.
  • Experience with the analysis and statistics relevant to in vitro screens.  Experience with relevant software tools, and automation is a must.  
  • Experience in advanced molecular biology and cell culture techniques including advanced cloning techniques and culturing a wide variety of human cell lines.  Experience with gene editing and molecular biology is a must.
  • Experience with small molecules/ligands/therapeutics is preferred.
  • Excellent communicator, with good presentation and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently but also to thrive in a multidisciplinary team environment.
