UCB is a leading global biopharmaceutical company which is dedicated to the research, development and commercialization of innovative pharmaceutical and biotechnology products across the fields of Central Nervous Systems (CNS) and Immunology. The organization employs some 9,000 individuals across approximately 40 countries.

Headquartered in Brussels, UCB was established in 1928 as a hybrid specialty chemical company. It has since steadily transformed itself from a diversified pharmaceuticals, chemicals and films conglomerate into the pioneer in the field of biopharmaceutical research that it is today.

UCB discovery projects are driven by two research centers, located in Slough in the United Kingdom, covering primarily immunology, and in Braine-l’Alleud in Belgium, covering primarily CNS disorders. These sites liaise closely with the development sites in Monheim in Germany, the Research Triangle Park in the United States, and a further site in Tokyo in Japan, to deliver industry-defining products.  In October 2014, UCB also opened its latest €250 million biotech production plant in Bulle in Switzerland.

Within the UCB Development Sciences team, the Translational Biomarker and Bioanalysis department is responsible for the design and execution of bioanalytical strategies (PK, Biomarkers and Immunogenicity) throughout the whole portfolio and from the drug discovery to the drug development and post-marketing stage.
