Healthcare science and patient care are becoming more and more data-driven.  Neurology is no exception, and in epilepsy and Parkinson’s Disease digital physiology data such as EEG, motion sensors and ECG/EKG are critical in understanding the patients and advancing the science.  For example, our strategy of meaningful sub-populations depends on our ability to understand therapeutic outcomes through the interpretation of physiological data from those devices.  In short, digital physiology is becoming an integral part of Drug Development and outcome-based Healthcare.

 

For these reasons UCB is hiring a Biosensors Analytics Expert that will participate in building our digital capabilities.

 

The Biosensors Analytics Expert will therefore:

  • Design robust signal processing algorithms and validate their outcomes
  • Perform analytics on wearable sensors data for the derivation of digital biomarkers
  • Support clinical teams in designing the biosensor-based components of the trial.
  • Set-up analytical pipelines for biosensor data
  • Participate in the decision-making process for the selection or development of health sensors
  • Present the results of analyses to the relevant stakeholders
  • Keep abreast of best practices and drive the adoption of novel approaches and methods in the field of signal processing.
  • Collaborate with academic partners when required for the advancement of biosensor analytic capabilities

    Profile:
  • Holds a degree in computer science, mathematics or similar, at masters or PhD level
  • Has experience in biomedical signal processing
  • Has practical knowledge of major machine learning models (ideally both probabilistic and deterministic)
  • Is knowledgeable in technical data management aspects of time series data and in programming languages such as Python
  • Has experience in integrating complex data structures, performing statistical data reduction, normalization, multivariate data analyses
  • Worked in biomedical settings, preferably in a neuroscience context (epilepsy and/or neurodegenerative diseases)
  • Good knowledge of the healthcare industry, expertise in drug development a plus.
  • Has excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work across teams internationally
