To strengthen our Global Supply Chain department in Braine l’Alleud, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Global Demand Planning Lead


As a UCB Global Demand Planning Lead, you like to work in an environment where you can:  

  • Be accountable for driving visibility, forecasting performance, and alignment on risk inherent in our global demand plans. This leadership position is a crucial stakeholder of a cross-functional decision-making processes (the Sales, Inventory, and Operations Process) that is particularly necessary in an increasingly complex and fast-paced business environment to maintain customer service levels whilst minimizing capital investments and operational costs. 
  • Integrated into the In-Market Supply operations, implement and drive a robust End-2-End Demand Planning process and output, integrating commercialized products, new launches, and life-cycle management events over a tactical planning horizon (0-36 months), supported by advanced predictive analytics and statistical forecast methods.
  • Be also accountable for the integration, talent development, and coaching of a team of global demand planner/analyst’s responsible for the implementation and performance of E2E forecasting processes including the execution of core tier alignment meetings (ie. Demand review Meeting) intended to deliver reliable forecasts and insights that enhance Supply Planning operations including Inventory Optimization objectives.
  • As crucial active contributor to the SI&OP cycle, support decision making for anticipating and closing gaps to plans as well as securing new launches with required scenario simulations and monetizing of these at reconciliation, again within the tactical horizon.


As a UCB Global Demand Planning Lead, you will contribute by:

  • Leading the Demand Planning process, by consolidating tactical (3Y) demand using statistical forecast, input from the market to get to consensus for commercialized, new launches and life-cycle management events
  • Driving in-Market demand forecasting accuracy and bias by improving statistical mathematical model output, collecting market intelligence, developing effective method for consolidation and reconciliation for one consensus plan and required scenario simulations.
  • Leading the monthly Demand review as step 2 of tactical SI&OP cycle to deliver input to Supply Review Meeting.
  • Facilitating collaboration across all the of the Market Demand Planning operations as well as other groups to make decisions and trade-offs as required to optimize the desired business result.
  • Supporting developing demand plans and scenario simulation plans for specific products complementary to Demand planning lead roles. Be hands-on when and where needed.
  • Leading, developing and coaching Demand analytics experts in their routine of unit demand forecast as well as in support to method enhancements
  • Maintaining high motivation and sense of purpose within the team.
  • Assuring that team ‘know-how’ is driven by analytics skills and systems expertise, looking ahead at advanced technologies for predictive forecasting and scenario simulations.
  • Being close to in-market supply leaders to facilitate Demand Planning performance reviews and improvement actions that drive better outcomes
  • Being the partner of Demand process architect in developing Demand planning process within both tactical and strategic horizons
  • Working with GPSL (Global Product Supply Lead) functions to integrate new launches in the required horizon (2Y before launch) together with supply strategies
  • Being active member of Launch Excellence center of expertise
  • Driving insights on demand variability that result in risk-based supply/replenishment parameter setting to reduce service-level risks and noise in our system of execution (manufacturing and delivery).


Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree
  • 10 years’ experience in Supply Chain with deep knowledge of SI&OP, in particular Demand Forecasting/Planning. Experience in Pharma Industry in an international environment.
  • Experience in Customer service or within market function is a plus. Minimum 3y people management experience.
  • Effective Leadership and strong influencing & persuading skills
  • Outspoken, good at communicating in large audience. Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills, as well as strong skills as a negotiator to reach consensus, buy-in and commitment.
  • Fluent in English (French is a plus).
  • Structured and well organized
  • Hands-on, analytical skills with interest for data set-up, data flow and systems
  • Strong orientation toward SI&OP process performance. In-depth understanding of strategic business goals and objectives. In-depth understanding of demand and supply planning and good understanding of financial planning.
  • Proven experience in process definition and implementation, as well as in change management.
  • Proven ability to communicate with people at all levels ranging from planners to high-level executives, with operations or commercial profiles. Sensitive to and able to articulate “what is in for them”, empathic and team player
  • Deep interest and passion for planning/forecasting technology enablement and advancing technology/tools as well as ways-of-working.
