At UCB, we recently announced the construction of an innovative and environmentally sustainable multi-product biological manufacturing facility on our site in Braine l’Alleud.  This new biotechnology plant is being constructed to accompany the company’s growth strategy and to prepare for the launch and for the long-term supply of future medicines that are currently in clinical development. This aims to contribute directly to drive our global ambition of improving the life of patients suffering from rare diseases.

 

The new facility, representing an investment of more than 300 million euros over the coming years, is expected to be operational in 2024. Construction is due to start in the first quarter of 2020. The biotechnology plant will be one of the largest and most modern in Belgium. 

 

We are now looking for talented, inspired, daring and engaged individuals who share our ambition to create value for patients and who want to be part of our journey to prepare for the next biopharmaceutical product launches. 

 

To strengthen our Braine Technical Operations Department, based in our hub in Braine l’Alleud, Belgium, we are looking to fill the position of: Head of Biotech Manufacturing.

 

 

As a Head of Biotech Manufacturing you like to work in an environment where you can:

 

  • Develop and lead the biological Drug Substance (DS) manufacturing operations in line with the UCB strategies
  • Lead the establishment of efficient and robust manufacturing operations to supply compliant biological DS for the late clinical, launch and commercial phases

 

You will contribute by:

 

  • Being accountable that all operations, in Drug Substance manufacturing are performed according to cGMP quality standard and other applicable regulations
  • Leading and developing the people organization to support the manufacturing activities
  • Developing and empowering the team to reinforce agility, flexibility and autonomy
  • Integrating the new plant in the UCB network:  process development plant, Braine site and other UCB sites
  • Determining the required operational budget and CAPEX and assessing capacity allocation in line with supply plans
  • Creating a culture of continuous improvement and entrepreneurship
  • Promoting the safety culture and ensuring safety procedures application through the organization

 

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following educationexperience and skills:

 

  • 10+ year experiences in a management role in biological Drug Substance manufacturing 
  • Demonstrated experience in biotech manufacturing/quality/engineering and projects execution at large scale
  • Demonstrated experience in development of effective and sustainable manufacturing organization
  • Strong expertise in GMP and regulatory environment
  • Ability to define and implement a vision
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Passionate and inspiring
  • Focus on building effective relationships across functions
