Post-doctoral Fellow- Neuroinflammation/Immunity in Autism Spectrum

Job Location: Braine L’Alleud, Belgium

Hiring level: Post-doctoral (3-year project)

Project Topic: Immune-involvement in the pathophysiology of Autism

At UCB everything we do starts with a simple question: “How will this make a difference to the lives of people living with severe diseases?” We do that by connecting our ground-breaking science with patients living with the physical and social burdens of autoimmune and neurological disorders. Those connections offer new perspectives, drive innovation, and offer the hope of a new generation of therapies that will help improve lives on a global scale.

Role Overview

This is a 3-year post-doctoral fellowship focusing on the role of perinatal immune activation in autism spectrum disorders and identification/validation of novel drug targets emerging from human genetics and underlying human disease biologies. The selected candidate will be supervised by the head of neuroinflammation and will work closely with the neuroinflammation team to design and coordinate in vitro and in vivo studies in a time critical manner.  This role will require significant interactions with a world-class network of academic collaborators for access to novel patient cell based technologies, clinical samples and animal models.  In addition to external interactions the candidates will be trained in use of cutting edge technologies with the support of the neuroinflammation team and in collaboration with other departments. He/She will need to align with key internal stakeholders across UCB’s research sites to define specific studies, approaches and priorities, while working closely with external academic collaborators.
