To strengthen our Physico-Chemical Methods Development Team, based in Braine, Belgium we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Scientist in Physico-Chemical Methods Development (PCMD)


As a PCMD Scientist, your main responsibilities are:


  • To drive analytical development/method validation projects
  • To troubleshoot analytical methods/techniques
  • To work in autonomy within a team of engaged analysts and scientists
  • To actively represent analytical team in cross-functional project teams


You will more precisely contribute by:


  • Designing, conducting or supervising experiments, analysing results, preparing and reviewing documentation related to analytical method development, validation, transfers, support to process for our biological products from early clinical phase to commercialization.
  • Showing your expertise in one of our techniques, especially: HPLC/UPLC, quantitative mass spectrometry (LC-MS or ICP-MS), qPCR, gel/capillary electrophoresis, immunoassays or our methodologies, especially statistical methodologies (design of experiments, etc.)
  • Providing expertise and scientific assistance to analysts to troubleshoot analytical issues on the techniques/methods run in the laboratory.
  • Presenting/discussing results in project team meetings and liaising with other departments or external partners to ensure analytical knowledge transfer.


All these activities will be performed in compliance with the GMP rules and with the regulatory requirements for each development phase of the products. 


For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:


  • University Degree (Master preferred or PhD) in biology, biochemistry, analytical chemistry or equivalent by experience
  • At least 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role within the biotech industry and in a GMP laboratory with preferably a track-record in project management (a project can consist in the management of an analytical package for one molecule or in the management of one technique for several molecules etc.)
  • A proven expertise in method development, troubleshooting and validation in one of the above-mentioned techniques applied to proteins
  • Ability to author and review comprehensive and accurate procedures, protocols and reports in English


            Soft skills:

  • High level of autonomy in the day to day work related to analytical method development / validation and project management
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate and maintain good working relationships within the team and with internal/external partners
  • Ability to work in a matrix and customer-oriented environment
