A day in your (working) life

You will be joining the team as a strategic sourcing manager part of the Direct & CMO procurement team and you will be responsible for managing a variety of projects across the areas of Raw Materials, Packaging and Contract Manufacturing Organizations. In your role you’ll be required to work transversally with our colleagues, especially in manufacturing, to deliver best value across the direct and CMO spend portfolio whilst carefully monitoring the risk and supply continuity.

To be successful in your role you will need to build solid relationships and trust with your colleagues, your business stakeholders and the suppliers in your portfolio. Key success factors in your position will be your ability to sophistically influence stakeholders, create alignment around a shared sourcing strategy and mobilize cross-functional teams to deliver sustainable results.

As you’re someone with diligence and discipline, you shall fully adopt and embrace UCB procurement ways of working (tools, processes, methodologies) in order to deliver on your role with excellence.

More specifically, in your role we expect you to:

  • manage sourcing projects and initiatives, connect with your business stakeholders, conduct negotiations with suppliers and coordinate contract finalization
  • proactively identify sourcing opportunities and or propose improvement solutions
  • analyze demand, analyze market trends and opportunities
  • contribute or become accountable for the design, update and execution of specific category strategies

Area that play to your strengths

  • Minimum of 5 – 7 years of experience in procurement environments in a buyer or category management role.
  • Experience in direct procurement and CMO procurement required, background in the Pharmaceutical industry is beneficial
  • Mindset and behaviors that are aligned to working in a global pharmaceutical company where compliance, reputation management and the highest ethical standards are at the heart of our values
  • Enthusiasm in sharing expertise and experience with other within your own discipline
  • Willingness to work autonomously and in teams… playing different roles.
  • Flexibility in operating within established procedures and practices. Yes, we do have rules and processes to follow. But we promise, this won’t make it less interesting and definitely, never boring!
  • Business Analytics and story telling: combine data visualization with narrative techniques to deliver insights in a way that engages decision makers in a compelling and easily embraced form. Be honest on this! We may select you anyhow!
  • Still we expect you to provide solutions to moderately complex or infrequently occurring problems by doing proper investigations and data gathering.
  • Great communication skills - Ability to build and maintain effective relationships of trust and credibility with internal stakeholders and suppliers.
  • Presents and discusses results and projects in your area of responsibility. And yes, often it’s to senior management or…above!
  • Market Intelligence: ability to leverage market information to drive change and more impactful results
  • Execution: ability to meet deadlines and work well under pressure, ideally with a good dose of humor… especially for those moments. Project management and coordination skills are often required due to the complex nature and scope of many of our projects and initiatives.
  • Ability to think creatively and translate ideas into concrete projects and deliver on them. We’d love you to suggest improvements to any existing process within and outside of procurement
