To strengthen our Biotech Sciences Portfolio Management Team, based in Braine (BE) and in Slough (UK) we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Technical Lead



Based on your location, we will see to consider your application rather for our team based in Slough in the UK or for our team based in Braine in Belgium.



As a Technical Lead, you will identify and foster purposeful partnerships with key scientific influencers to drive new sources of patient value.



You will work in an environment where you can:


  • Have the overall responsibility for defining, implementing and managing the CMC development strategy for designated assets as they transition from research into development.
  • Act as the interface between Supply & Technology Support and the asset development team (‘Patient Value (PV) Mission’) for all technical aspects of product development, leading the translation of business requirements into technical solutions and ensuring technical aspects translate into meaningful business impact.


You will contribute by:


  • Leading the cross-functional Technical Satellite Team (TST) to define CMC development scenarios and select the optimal strategy to move our NBE candidates seamlessly from research into development, in alignment with the PV Mission Plan, Target Patient Value Profile (TPVP) and quality Target Product Profile (qTPP).
  • Representing CMC functions in the PV Mission; making sure technical aspects are appropriately considered in the asset development strategy and ensuring appropriate communication to/ from key stakeholders (TST & PV Mission, S&TS functions and governance bodies).
  • Building a detailed CMC development plan (aligned with PV Mission and functional strategy) and driving the CMC program accordingly, tracking and reporting ongoing performance of CMC activities against agreed milestones and budget.
  • Contributing to the Product/ Asset 10 Year Plan and Yearly budget by defining and consolidating related CMC activities, resource and budget.
  • Leading CMC Product risk analysis and ensuring appropriate mitigation plans are implemented and properly reported to the S&TS risk committee.
  • Driving the application of QbD principles in the CMC development plans.
  • Driving the TST to support submission file readiness for CTA and subsequent license applications.
  • Contributing to the CMC Development/ Technical Lead community by driving or participating in improvement initiatives to ensure best in class CMC project management.


Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:


  • Master Degree preferred.
  • At least 5 years experience in CMC development of NBEs (preferred) and/or NCEs, preferably with a good understanding of both entities and their commonalities and differences.
  • Solid understanding of the end-to-end CMC development process and its major process steps.
  • Significant background across different stages and disciplines of CMC development, including deep expertise in at least one CMC development discipline and professional experience across at least two different stages of CMC development.
  • Proven experience with Project Management tools (e.g. MS Project).
  • Very good command in English.


Soft skills:

  • Proven project leadership skills, including project planning, monitoring, issue resolution, decision making, reporting.
  • Ability to lead by influence highly expert technical teams in a transversal management setting.
  • Ability to bridge between sparring partner to expert scientists and enabler of senior management decision making.
  • Ability to identify and address potential problems / areas for improvement pro-actively and act on them in a problem-solving manner.
