Ra Pharmaceuticals, a part of UCB, combines novel insights into complement and other innate immunity pathways with leadership in macrocycle technology to transform the lives of patients with life threatening disorders. Ra’s proprietary in vitro selection by mRNA display and peptide chemistry platform delivers drugs with the diversity and specificity of antibodies coupled with the pharmacological properties of small molecules. Our primary clinical focus is on diseases of complement dysregulation and orphan indications defined by validated biomarkers.

We are currently seeking a Scientist to join our in vitro selection by mRNA display technology platform group.

 

You like to work in an environment where you can: Work as part of a collaborative team on in vitro selection by mRNA display for the discovery of macrocyclic peptide drugs on protein targets in different diseases areas.

 

You will contribute by:

  • Testing and incorporating unnatural amino acids into peptides via in vitro translation system.
  • Leading and contributing to a of variety of DNA libraries.
  • The candidate will also provide molecular biology and protein purification support to enable the mRNA display platform.

 

For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • MS degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related discipline; industry working experience is a plus
  • Strong molecular biology techniques including DNA/RNA manipulations and cloning, proficient in recombinant protein expression and purification using AKTA or other system
  • Hands-on experience using radioactive tracers in biological assays, ultracentrifugation, LS-MC or MALDI spectrometry and Illumina deep sequencing technology.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of in vitro translation of unnatural amino acids or any display technologies is a plus
  • Must be a flexible and careful bench scientist eager to work in a collaborative environment while having the ability to work independently, following SOPs with minimal supervision
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong trouble-shooting and analytical skills
