As a Medical Science Liaison (MSL), you and the Medical Advisor are the content expert for your product or group of products of the company in the medical scientific field. You contribute to the positioning of a product with the target group, identify what is going on and provide feedback internally. You get energized from building and maintaining relationships and networks with healthcare professionals (doctors, KOLs / key opinion leaders, pharmacists).

  • Provide customer value by engaging in a peer-to-peer two-way scientific exchange to harness and augment the expertise of the customer.
  • Impact the business within UCB’s strategic roadmap, as a trusted scientific partner throughout a product’s life cycle and therefore directly improve patient care by gathering/sharing crucial insights.

 

 

As a UCB 'scieninspiring' person, you will contribute by:

 

  • Driving (developing and maintaining) individual Medical Plans for key customers in line with Area Medical Plan objectives.
  • Being agile and proactive, identifying and managing key scientific and medical influencers based on local ecosystem dynamics and the stakeholder’s needs and drivers (from push to pull).
  • Managing a territory effectively with approximately 70-80% of time focused on customer interactions.
  • Offering scientific support to customers in the context of advisory boards, congresses, medical education or publications.
  • Exploring and identifying new sources bring patient value (through innovative solutions and services).
  • Managing and generating product/disease state data (IIS, audits, RWE, …etc.).
  • Maximizing site performance and supporting clinical trials and non-interventional studies leveraging a strong therapeutic expertise (scientific, clinical, disease states and treatment options) aligned with UCB’s tactical plan.
  • Active participating in the development and follow up of the Local Patient Value Plan (LPVP) from a scientific and medical perspective, in alignment with the Country Lead.
  • Taking accountability of medical/scientific activities and co-create with country team (LPVU) towards successful execution and value creation.
  • Partnering with key clinical stakeholders to advance medical initiatives, in defined strategic areas, to drive optimal patient care. Also, partnering with other stakeholders like payers, patient organizations and patients might be relevant.

 

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

 

  • Academic background within Natural/Life Sciences or Pharmacy, PhD in immunology is a big plus.
  • Languages: Finish and English (both written and verbally).
  • 1-3 years of previous MSL experience is required.
  • Proven track-record having worked with biologics preferred within immunology and rheumatology.
  • Launch experience would be of advantage.
  • Excellent communication/presentation skills.
  • Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings.
  • Ability to actively listen and process information to identify opportunities.
  • Business acumen with a good understanding and holistic view on the healthcare ecosystem.          
  • Likes to work in team as well as independently.
  • Capable of good prioritizing and sense of urgency.
