To strengthen our Global Patient Safety Group, we are looking to fill the position of: Head of Patient Safety Unit 
 
About the Role
You will be responsible for:
•    Leadership and oversight of a new Patient Safety Unit in Patient Safety: Safety Leads (SLs), Safety Physicians (SPs) and Safety Scientists (SS) and contract personnel
•    Member of extended Patient Safety Leadership Team (ePSLT)
•    Provide expert advice and challenge regarding scientific and strategic challenges relating to the defining, assessing and maintaining of the safety profile and Benefit Risk Assessment (BRA) of the assigned products
•    Ensure the development, implementation and documentation of product specific Risk Management Strategy and Plans, including risk mitigation strategies, in collaboration with SLs and SAW (scientific analysis and writing team)
•    Ensure that the early projects appropriately translate the preclinical data to the clinical space and that the early studies have adequate and robust risk management strategies to protect patients whilst enabling efficient drug development
•    Develop, with other therapeutic area PSU heads and the Pharmacovigilance Centre of Excellence team, tools and standards which will allow for the delivery of high-quality results within agreed timelines
•    Establish and leverage relationships with key stakeholders in the relevant PVUs to ensure awareness, understanding, and support of patient safety
•    Represent the company and speak at conferences, symposia, and meetings
•    Participate in governance/review meetings when appropriate (Global Labelling Committee, Benefit Risk Board etc.)
•    Global travel required
 
About You
You should have:
•    An MD or higher medical qualification, PhD/PharmD
•    Depending on previous professional experience, a combined minimum of 10 years in the biopharmaceutical industry with a proven and successful track record in biopharmaceutical clinical development and at least one of the following areas: risk management, pharmacoepidemiology or pharmacovigilance. A strong track record in clinical development with experience of working on safety topics will also be considered.
•    Broad knowledge of relevant concepts in health care, human biology, data management and systems, epidemiology, pharmacology, pharmacovigilance, drug development and statistics
•    Proven management and leadership skills that support and guide direct reports in the successful medical, scientific and project management of safety activities.  Substantial and personal experience with GVP.
•    Substantial personal experience of presenting to and interacting with regulatory agencies essential to ensure adequate coaching of function members
•    Drug development experience spanning the drug development lifecycle
