To strengthen our iEuropean Strategic Operations team we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Medical Lead, Europe - Osteoporosis

As the Medical Solutions Lead, Europe you will contribute to the development of the EU therapy area strategy and lead the development and implementation of the medical strategy, in alignment with the global strategy.

•    Gather insights and translate customer needs into appropriate medical solutions as well as facilitating the flow of insights from the field to the regional and mission teams.
•    Be a Scientific Ambassador to outside stakeholders, reinforcing the external partnership with EU KOLs through strong engagement and advocacy.
•    Act as a reference source for area colleagues and ensure the appropriate communication of mission/EU strategy horizontally and vertically in the EU organization.

 

You will contribute to the following areas by: 
•    EU Patient Value Brand Plan (PVBP) 

  • Leverage insights from external sources and scientific knowledge to contribute to the development of a cross functional EU PVBP aligned with mission strategy(ies) and area needs
  • Develop and deliver differentiated solutions inspired by a deep understanding of patients and physicians needs to improve clinical practice and patient care

•    Insights Collection

  • Gather observations to help generate actionable insights to improve patient management through all customer related activities, i.e. field visits, Advisory Boards, congresses, summits, interactions with patient groups etc.

•    Data Generation and Dissemination

  • In collaboration with Publication and RWE rheumatology lead, support implementation of scientific communication strategy in the EU region and identify needs for real life data 
  • Identify needs and partner with the Global medical team to build high value-added medical programs such as Medical Educational Programs and Symposia
  • Support the development of Medical Information materials and Reactive communication materials for HCPs where needed

•    Solutions and Trainings

  • Develop medical solutions e.g. disease state, proactive and state of the art decks
  • Develop & assess educational/training materials, ensuring that all claims are fully supported by scientific data, and are presented in an accurate, fair and balanced manner 
  • Support internal disease area and product education, on boarding and training programs for medical and cross-functional EU colleagues

•    External Scientific Collaboration

  • In tandem with local area team, act as key liaison to external scientific collaborators (key international opinion leaders, professional societies, groups) to identify new opportunities for scientific collaboration.  

•    Governance

  • Contribute to continued strengthening of the TA expertise within UCB, in partnership with Area, and Mission Medical leads.
  • Provide medical review/approval of promotional, medical, market access and patient materials/documents, in line with Global Clearance Committee process
  • Ensure EU Medical Affairs activities are compliant, identify solutions for process improvement, and follow UCB corporate policies and SOPs; escalate unresolved conflicts in a timely manner 
  • Collaborate with Ethics and Compliance/Legal colleagues to ensure all projects are designed and implemented according to compliance and legal requirements

•    Cross functional Interactions and responsibilities

  • Work as the EU medical lead within the asset team to co-create and execute EU disease area strategic and tactical plan with other functions (marketing, access, omnichannel, advocacy & medical educational and publication and RWE leads)
  • Actively participate and contribute to the EU osteoporosis community and work transversally with the Medical iEU team, Digital / Omnichannel team, PEx team and OE team part of Strategic Operations Team 
  • Act as key point of contact between area and mission medical affairs teams

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills: 
•    Scientific background (Scientific degree minimum, preferably, Medical, Pharmacy or PhD)
•    Medical affairs experience for a minimum of 3-5 years, preferably with Disease Area (osteoporosis) knowledge 
•    Experience in KOL or other stakeholder management and stakeholder engagement
•    Capability to adapt project plan pro-actively through involvement of all relevant stakeholders depending on business needs.
•    Ability to communicate with people of different cultures and present complex knowledge in an accessible manner
•    Knowledge of healthcare ecosystems and the stakeholders influencing decisions 
•    Thorough understanding of the regulatory and compliance guidelines relevant to the pharmaceutical industry
•    Experience in developing strategies based on benchmarking and stakeholder insights 
•    Experience in strategic and tactical planning, execution and complex project management
•    Willingness to travel on regular basis
