Role Overview

We are looking for a skilled scientist to join UCB’s Core Antibody Discovery team.

 

The successful candidate will utilize UCB’s proprietary single B cell technologies to discover therapeutic and tool antibodies. They will also look to develop and establish new technologies for efficiently interrogating immune repertoires with the aim to identify the highest quality monoclonal antibodies.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Using and developing UCB’s world-leading single B cell technologies to discover antibodies as potential therapeutic molecules and as tool reagents to support projects from pre-portfolio to clinical candidates.
  • Use your excellent communication and team working abilities to drive our innovative antibody projects forward from the laboratory.
  • Present experimental data at cross-functional meetings and external conferences.
  • Contribute to the development of new methodologies/techniques in antibody discovery and engineering.
  • Aim to publish work in high impact scientific journals and in patents.

 

Essential Requirements

  • A graduate, masters-level or PhD-level scientist with a good understanding of immunology and antibody structure and function.
  • A solid understanding and proven experience of molecular biology techniques including PCR and cloning.
  • Experience in antibody discovery technologies including hybridoma, phage display, B cell culture, flow cytometry NGS would be beneficial.
  • A high level of motivation with a proven ability to deliver to tight timelines and work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Exceptional organizational, communication and inter-personal skills.
  • A passion for delivering innovative new medicines to patients.
  • Industrial/Pharmaceutical work experience, particularly in antibody research, would be desirable.

 

The successful candidate should thrive in a team environment and be adaptable to changing project and organisational priorities.  They will also be a strong communicator who is willing to discuss their own ideas.  In addition, the candidate should readily exchange feedback with colleagues.
