Slough, Berkshire, United Kingdom

Job Function:  Research & Early Development
Job ID:  65376

At UCB everything we do starts with a simple question: “How will this make a difference to the lives of people living with severe diseases?” We do that by connecting with patients and their families around the world living with the physical and social burdens of severe disease of the immune system and the central nervous system. Those connections offer new perspectives, drive innovation, and offer the hope of a new generation of therapies that will help to transform lives.

Role overview

Working in the New Modalities and Therapeutics group within Discovery Sciences in Slough UK, you will be part of an innovative multi-disciplinary team, within the Discovery Biology Division.

Primary responsbilities

The ideal candidate will enhance our ability to validate new drug targets and new therapeutic modalities in cellular systems and rapidly assess and progress drug targets and modalities into UCB’s drug portfolio. Therapeutic modalities could range from standard and bispecific antibodies through to genetic therapies and small chemical entities. This will require excellent practical skills and an understanding of the nature of drug discovery for small and large molecule drugs. In particular, a track record in cellular assay development and the skills to solve complex biological questions in the context of human immunology will be an asset for this role. Interaction with different teams in Discovery Sciences and Therapeutic Areas are vital as is the connection with research teams throughout the organisation. The successful candidate will have an impact on the adoption of new therapeutic concepts that will benefit the future lives of patients and be at the cutting-edge of new medicines.
