To strengthen our Business Development, Mergers & Acquisitions and Alliance & Integration Management team, we are looking to fill the position of: Transactions Lead.


As Transactions Lead you will be responsible for managing and leading both Business Development (BD) and Merger & Acquisition (M&A) transactions of strategic interest to the company and having the potential to create meaningful value for patients.

  • Apply your outstanding project management and biopharmaceutical transactions experience to manage and lead BD and M&A transactions;
  • Build and maintain authentic and effective working relationships with a diverse group of talented and motivated colleagues and external discussion partners & counterparties;

You will contribute by:

  • Managing and leading BD and M&A transactions, from initial confidential evaluation through term sheet negotiation, due diligence, negotiation of transaction documents, execution and closing, all in a timely fashion and in accordance with UCB’s strategic priorities & transaction governance;
  • Working in close collaboration with and under the oversight of the applicable BD or M&A Head to ensure deal structure and terms are consistent with corporate strategy and transaction mandate;
  • Running an efficient and effective project and stakeholder management for all transactions; assembling and leading a global, multi-disciplinary team of internal and external experts throughout the transaction process; soliciting input from and ensuring alignment among internal stakeholders;
  • Understanding, challenging and fine-tuning assumptions of the applicable BD and M&A Heads and other project team members to ensure sound decision-making;
  • Interacting with UCB senior management on specific BD or M&A transactions;
  • Representing UCB in interactions and negotiations with counterparties and at industry events with outstanding competence, professionalism, and integrity.


Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:

  • Team player with excellent academic qualifications in life-sciences, finance, legal, intellectual property and/or business administration
  • 5+ years’ BD and/or M&A experience;
  • Outstanding project and stakeholder management skills;
  • Solid understanding of biopharmaceutical industry research, development, manufacturing and commercialization;
  • Ability to credibly interact with senior management stakeholders; Strong interpersonal, relationship building and communication skills;
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
