To strengthen our Procurement Team, we are looking to fill the position of Purchasing Lead (UK&Nordics).

About the Role

You will be responsible for:

  • lead and monitor purchasing activity to ensure it is well managed and aligned to global activities, savings are achieved and all primary KPIs tracked and managed on a monthly basis. With firm remedial plans and actions implemented to manage any gaps identified.
  • implement, apply and ensure compliance of purchasing processes (both transactional and sourcing ones) with current and future UCB Global Purchasing principles and guidelines, considering relevant country-specific commercial, statutory and tax legislations.
  • develop country purchasing plans based on the purchasing category strategies as defined by Global Buyers to optimise cost effectiveness and negotiate local purchase contracts in line with country-specific business, legal and financial requirements
  • identify and implement potential total cost optimization opportunities or other cross-regional / cross-functional synergies by maximizing use of global purchasing category negotiation levers and agreements
  • Identify, propose and implement best purchasing practices and continuous improvements of transactional, operational and sourcing processes in alignment with internal UCB and external best practices

About You

You should be able to:

  • Negotiate country-specific /local contract Terms & Conditions (technical, economic, financial and legal aspects) to fit with current and future “internal client” requirements, and liaise with related functions
  • Maximise costs optimisation through synergies and volume bundling in both direct & indirect categories.
  • Build stakeholder/budget holder buy-in to purchasing strategies by applying a formalised stakeholder relationship management programme
  • Manage portfolio of suppliers towards optimum return: balancing service, quality and cost, in line with business objectives
  • When and where appropriate, challenge internal demand (make or buy decision, demand management... etc.)
  • Liaise with other Purchasing colleagues to implement global purchasing strategies and develop country purchasing plans in line with UCB Group objectives
  • Facilitate end users’ awareness of risk and cost related to purchase commitments, and promote good purchasing practices
  • Establish information networking with other sites to share best practices
  • Implements TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) methodology together with internal users, identifies and implements improvement opportunities (e.g. as a result of standardisation of materials/services, purchasing process simplification…).
  • Follows up purchasing KPI targets and spend for categories and complies with reporting guidelines. Tracks savings versus set targets. Track PO Penetration and encourages Improvements in Working Capital
  • Set up, maintain and continuously improve purchasing process (“Request to Pay”) and ensure it is smoothly embedded into business planning
  • Asses, manage & mitigate business risks
  • Review contractual agreements with suppliers of goods and services; coordinate selection of suppliers in collaboration with business.
