Job Summary:


The Medical Affairs Lead Rheumatology provides strategic medical/scientific insight and resources, in Rheumatology, to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of product plans for the Immunology Patient Value Unit (iPVU) in the US market.


Major Responsibilities:


•    Derives data generation plans for a specific immunology product or products having indications in rheumatology. 
•    Works collaboratively with the Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) team Assesses the need for and ensures execution of key exploratory data analysis projects. 
•    Conducts medical review of proposals for company sponsorship of Investigator Initiated Studies (IIS).
•    Maintains expertise in rheumatology by collecting competitive intelligence and disease state expertise from both literature and Key Opinion Leader (KOL) engagement. 
•    Assesses the need for planning and running medical advisory boards. 
•    In collaboration with the publication manager, management of the publication plan developed each year by the Medical Director. 
•    Ensures appropriate focus, timely preparation, review and submission of publications at scientific congresses. 
•    Performs quality check and review medical review of brand promotional materials and internal medical education resources. 
•    Assists with the development of training materials and programs to ensure brand teams, sales training department and the medical teams have appropriate levels of expertise in disease states and with relevant products. 
•    Acts as a rheumatology scientific/medical expert for US Immunology Patient Value.  
•    Reviews topics for CME events related to rheumatology and provides professional input for symposia development and key congresses in accordance with Company policies. 
•    Develops partnerships with key opinion leaders to help determine existing data gaps and appropriate data mining programs for products with rheumatological indications.




•    Doctorate degree (MD, PharmD, DO, Ph.D) required.  Rheumatologist preferred.
•    Minimum of 2 years of strategic in-house Medical Affairs experience or 7 years of field medical affairs Medical Science Liaison or equivalent, relevant work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. 
•    Specific experience in immunology preferred. 
•    Advanced scientific knowledge in immunology. 
•    Mastery of general scientific or medical research principles. 
•    Proven aptitude to learn quickly. 
•    Strong interpersonal skills. 
•    Build strategic working relationships with both diverse internal and external medical and scientific experts, as well as brand team members. 
•    Ability to think based on both business principles and scientific principles. 
•    Strong project management skills, including projects managed via a matrix organization. 
•    Self-motivated, proactive problem solver. 
•    Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
