To strengthen our Finance Team in Smyrna, Georgia, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of Finance Decision Analytics Intern.  

 

The UCB Finance team is looking for a motivated summer Intern who is ready to apply his/her knowledge of business practices, data/technical skills and processes in a fast paced, real world environment. The Intern will lead one major project and a smaller project that impact’s UCB business and the Finance organization. 

 

The major project will entail assessing, understanding and remediating current data and data structures gaps/inconsistencies that form the basis for UCB’s patient value unit’s financial reporting and analysis. This will require a strong understanding of financial systems or databases with an adept ability to manipulate, map and address data gaps across various cost objects, reporting elements and general ledger accounts for profit and loss (P&L) statement reporting and development. The result of this project will improve the effectiveness, reliability and accuracy of current and future financial reporting for the patient value unit (PVU).

 

The smaller project entails a redesign of current monthly and ongoing business/financial reports for PVU stakeholders. The redesign requires creation of namely Excel or related platform reports with visual enhancements, clarity of reporting and ease of maintenance once completed. Superior Microsoft Excel and other data tools and data visualization skills will be required. An understanding of financial data is preferred but not required.

 

Both projects provide a window into UCB’s journey in delivering patient value while gaining valuable financial and general business knowledge.

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills
Minimum Qualifications:

•    Graduate student currently working towards a master’s degree in one or more of the following areas: Finance, Business, IT and/or Computer Science

 

Preferred Qualifications:
•    Ability to work with financial data and systems (SAP, TM1, Hyperion, COGNOS, SQL etc)
•    Expertise in working with data from various sources to combine into single source for reporting
•    Experience building business friendly dashboards and reports for wide audience
•    Experience working with incomplete or unstructured data to provide insights and bridge knowledge gaps
•    Strong MS PowerPoint, Word, Excel skills
•    Self-starter; can work independently
•    Technical or IT skills with data and/or database proficiency
•    Previous experience in business or finance environment preferred
•    Strong communication skills
•    Data or decision science skills
•    Data mapping and reporting from database to excel
•    Developing and maintaining financial reports or other data
