The SLE Global Medical Affairs Lead is the senior medical & scientific expert for the Lupus team and the Rheumatology Mission.  He / she is primarily responsible for not only setting the overall global medical strategy and scientific communication platform for lupus, but is also expected to proactively contribute to the overall cross-functional asset strategy, by translating science into value for patients and  the business; provide global medical strategic direction to the regional TA Medical Affairs Teams enabling successful execution of the medical components of local KOL interactions and prepare the landscape for future launch preparation activities.

  • Provide Medical Leadership within a program which is currently in early stages of Phase 3 development, providing the opportunity and indeed owning the accountability to shape and develop the overall medical strategy some time prior to commencing launch preparation activities.

  • Establish a network of Lupus thought leaders / researchers, to ensure understanding of the evolving disease and treatment landscape and to develop appropriate solutions to meet the evolving needs of external stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development of the PVBP/ and leads the Medical Affairs Plan along with key initiatives and key medical deliverables (evidence generation plans & study concepts, medical stakeholders’ engagement, scientific communication and quality of care initiatives).
  • Serve as a disease area scientific and medical expert for internal customers/stakeholders, e.g., Global Clinical Trial team, Scientific Review Committee, research and development, Marketing, and other line functions within GMA and external customers e.g., Health Care Professionals (HCPs), Market Access and Patient Advocacy Groups. 

 

You will contribute by:

  • Providing medical input to the TA cross-functional team/ unit, Market Access and External Engagement to ensure the successful integration of critical medically focused deliverables for existing products where relevant and future launches of new products.

  • Delivering the Global medical TA strategy as part of the cross-functional strategy, by translating science into value for patients and business, in collaboration with the cross functional team. 
  • Developing the concept of medical training programs to ensure that TA medical teams, cross functional teams and key internal stakeholders have appropriate levels of expertise in relevant disease states and with relevant products, in line with UCB standards of scientific leadership.

  • Fostering authentic peer scientific/medical engagement with international External experts, professional societies, payers and patient advocacy groups that require high level of expertise, experience and for complex collaboration projects. 

 

Interested?  For this position, you'll need the following education, experience and skills:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctorate of Medicine (MD) degree
  • Trained and / or extensive experience in Rheumatology space and Lupus specifically
  • 5 - 8 + years  in a senior medical affairs position within the pharmaceutical industry in the respective therapeutic areas or similar experience

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Accredited training in Rheumatology and / or Pharmaceutical Medicine is preferred
  • Solid knowledge of the pharma environment and healthcare ecosystems and relevance for the business
  • Track record of contribution to / medical/ clinical development strategies
