To strengthen our Neurology Patient Value Unit (PVU), we are looking to fill the position of Medical Science Partner (MSP) to identify and foster purposeful partnerships with key scientific influencers to drive new sources of patient value. The MSP engages in balanced two-way scientific interactions and disease state/treatment algorithm discussions, thereby optimizing understanding of UCB therapies for the right patient segments. This position covers the Mid-Atlantic Region: Philadelphia, PA; Baltimore, MD; and Washington, D.C.  This position focuses on Epilepsy and we are looking for a local candidate residing in the geography.


Job Summary:


Identifies and fosters purposeful partnerships with key scientific influencers to drive new sources of patient value. Converses in two-way scientific interactions, disease state and treatment algorithm discussions optimizing understanding of UCB therapies for the right patient segments in a scientific and balanced manner within the local health ecosystem. Collaborates to advance local patient value oriented initiatives i.e., Medical, RWE) with key stakeholders.
Ensures UCB Operational Compliance to the highest professional standards.  The expectation is that compliance is a part of how we operate.    Adherence to compliant behavior is an expectation at UCB.


Major Accountabilities:

Key Activities:
•    Agile and proactive identification and management of key scientific and medical influencers based on local ecosystem dynamics and stakeholder needs and drivers (from push to pull).
•    Exploration and identification of new sources of patient value (innovative solutions and services).
•    Manage and generate product/ disease state data (IIS, audits, RWE etc.).
•    Support clinical studies, clinical development and share insights with R&D team.
•    Serving as the leading local scientific expert for UCB solutions.
•    Supporting market access colleagues when applicable in presentation of RWE/HEOR/clinical information to regional and local payer accounts and formularies.

Key Deliverables:
•    Partners with key clinical stakeholders to advance medical initiatives, in defined strategic areas, to drive optimal patient care. Also, partner with other stakeholders like payers, patient organizations and patients might be relevant depending on the available resources within local organization.  
•    Provides scientific expertise and interpretation to strategic initiatives in collaboration with other local Partner roles.
•    Shares insights, innovation opportunities and patient needs internally to the PVU and New Meds.
•    Capitalizes on RWE and uses them to further reinforce the value that UCB solutions bring to patients.

•    Enabling medical roles
•    Part of local / regional multidisciplinary team



• Doctorate-level degree (PharmD, PhD, or MD) required

• Experience working within IDN's and Hospitals preferred  

• Relevant therapeutic and clinical experience preferred

• HEOR and RWE experience preferred

• Excellent communication and presentation skills


This position requires extensive travel.  All candidates familiar with the Mid-Atlantic region will be highly preferred.
