To strengthen our Communications and Investor Relations Department team based in Brussels (Belgium), we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of:  Global Communication Manager-Neurology




Reporting to the Global Communications Lead, Neurology, the Global Communications Manager will be deeply involved in implementing the global communication strategies for our launched and pipeline products as well as disease awareness initiatives. He/She will manage many of the internal and external communications activities. He/she will support and deliver communications and PR strategies under the leadership of the Communication Lead, to ensure the successful delivery of the business objectives and strategic priorities.


In this exciting and demanding role, he/she will be able to make a real impact on UCB’s business priorities, trusted to drive critical projects with measurable results, working closely with many stakeholders from across UCB (global corporate communications, global internal communications, global commercial, investor relations and global R&D).


You will contribute by:


Major Accountabilities:


  • Execute communication/PR activities aligned with and in support of the brand strategy and overall corporate objectives, including development of press releases and other materials, media outreach strategy, participating in media events, video and photography shoots, internal events and communication campaigns, etc.
  • Manage timelines for projects and ensure that deadlines are met
  • Manage the PR agency on specific projects; ensuring PR agency is appropriately aligned with other vendors
  • Manage UCB’s internal review process, ensuring deadlines are met and that materials reflect review committee feedback
  • Cultivate and maintain scientific knowledge of brand and disease area in which work is focused; develop understanding of health, science, and policy-related issues impacting the assigned therapeutic area
  • Identify opportunities to promote corporate/brand activities externally and internally. Monitor for current events and ensure appropriate identification of threats and opportunities; assist with company response, if needed.
  • Accountable for associated budgets and evaluation the effectiveness of PR programs.
  • Serves as an integrated partner for the Business. Collaborate with global and local Communications colleagues and other cross functional teams.
  • Support and act as deputy for the Global Communications Lead, Neurology
  • Ensure that all communications programs/ deliverables are compliant and ethical
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned


Critical competencies:


Interested?  For this position, you'll need the following educationexperience and skills:


  • Minimum of five years’ experience within a PR agency healthcare business unit or on corporate pharmaceutical side is a must - Agency experience is a plus
  • Strong research, written and oral communication skills in English; ability to prepare communication materials from start to finish.
  • Knowledgeable on marketing/business strategies/regulatory framework and the ability to effectively describe and promote the company.
  • High energy and hands-on
  • Team player, preferably used to work in complex or matrix organizations, used to have a remote manager
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
  • Communication & influencing skills: presentations and written communications for internal communication, media, third party groups, …
  • Project management skills: ability to manage multiple activities with strict deadlines, provide high-quality tactical implementation with good results, problem anticipation and solving mindset, budget management, RC, agency management
  • Strategic insights: assisting with/providing insights on strategy, annual planning, understanding environmental impact, ….
