To strengthen our Medical Affairs department, based in our headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking to fill the position of: Head of Scientific Communication Excellence, in our Medical Affairs organization.

Your role summary 
 
Your key mandate as Head of Scientific Communication Excellence is to lead the development and sustainability of Scientific Communication excellence & differentiated leadership for UCB.  As a member of the Medical Affairs leadership team, you will shape the transformation of the overall Medical Affairs capability in UCB and of the new Medical Affairs center of excellence. 
 
 
  
Your key accountabilities 
 
define the long-term ambition and roadmap for scientific communication excellence at UCB. You ensure consistency across the organization so that our scientific communication strategy delivers impact to patients and drive value recognition for our solutions.

deliver value generation framework for developing the end-to-end scientific communication plans and all core deliverables (scientific platforms, publications, communication content, etc). 
 
• In collaboration with medical affairs teams, patient value units and UCB center of excellence, you will provide standards for understanding key stakeholder’s scientific information needs for decision making and tailoring the content and ensuring the delivery. 
 
anticipate scientific communication future needs, embrace the latest trends and digital evolution. You will contribute to the development of corporate strategic capabilities of which Medical Affairs is a key component - eg: Launch Excellence, Patient experience 
 
champion best practice sharing, continuous co-creation and learning across the teams and communities in the patient value units. 
 
ensure competencies development across roles and individuals working in scientific communication to develop a robust team of experts  
 
collaborate with processes teams to build most efficient and compliant processes and systems.  
 
 
Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills:  
 
You obtained a MD preferably or a master/ PhD in life sciences. You have a solid pharmaceutical medicine education or knowledge through direct experience. 
 
You gained at least 10 years' experience in the pharmaceutical, healthcare or related sector or 5 years of relevant experience building on robust clinical practice and academic experience. 
 
You achieved to successfully lead and execute medical affairs strategy across development phases, launch and lifecycle, across diverse therapeutic areas and business challenges. Your strong business acumen and cross-functional approach enable you to build strategic partnerships
 
Your hands-on experiences of global, regional and local operations medical affairs - through direct or shared accountability/ interactions - allow you to draw substantial learning and ability to develop best practices. You go beyond one specific therapeutic area responsibility to develop capability/transversal improvements
 
As an influential leader, you built a track record of developing, coaching and mentoring high performing teams and you inspire and drive transversal and cross functional performance.
