Operational Excellence Lead

To strengthen our Talent Acquisition, Development & Learning (TAD&L) Group, based in our Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, we are looking for a talented individual to fill the position of: Operational Excellence Lead. 

As an Operational Excellence Lead you will work transversally across TAD&L as well as UCB cross-functional teams to support the operationalization of a Strategic Learning Plan for a future, modern learning organization that strengthens learning as a strategic enabler.


The Lead works on developing, implementing and monitoring insights and reporting KPI’s on strategic initiatives and business drivers set out by the TAD&L Organization.


You will contribute by: 
•    Developing and managing daily PMO operations effectively in collaboration with the TAD&L Operations Specialists, UCB cross-functional teams and third parties (external partners)
•    Oversee, update and define the TAD&L program management plan
•    Lead teams to develop effective processes, approaches, procedures and documentation
•    Implement and manage program and project lifecycles and value streams
•    Develop, report and track success metrics and overall program KPIs and communicate to leadership team 
•    Proactively put in place mitigation strategies to identify and address risks and escalate to leadership and steering committee teams where appropriate
•    Identify opportunities for continuous improvement
•    Break down complex business challenges into smaller problems with actionable solutions for every team involved globally
•    Proven ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal, overcoming obstacles and delivering solutions to problems
•    Oversee management of TAD&L Portfolio Documentation
•    Develop and maintain process, procedures, workflow and service catalog documentation for group 
•    Provide on-site leadership, establishing practices, templates, tools and partnerships to expand and mature project standards for the team and direct reports
•    Communicate on project compliance and key business drivers
•    Oversee smooth improvement project implementation using cross-functional and cross-unit resources 
•    Connect and create enthusiasm with all stakeholders involved in strategic projects
•    Define project scope, objectives and timing involving all relevant stakeholders
•    Develop a project plan to monitor, manage risk and track progress
•    Coordinate in team effort to ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget


Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills: 
•    8+ years of experience managing the full project and change lifecycle and achieve business results within a matrix environment
•    Strong leadership skills including the ability to lead up, across and down multiple people and business organizations
•    Experience with complex operational, process, and performance improvement projects (lean or six sigma experience highly valued) including process mapping and process re-design.
•    Experience with large-scale organizational change – including driving transformation change across regions globally.
•    Able to hit the ground running a confident, entrepreneurial self-starter with the ability to manage and prioritize projects to delegate tasks appropriately.
•    Organized with a natural inclination for planning strategy and operational excellence and embedding continuous improvement.
•    Ability to develop trustful relationships with internal and external stakeholders to accelerate achievements.
•    Excellent interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills, including the ability to effectively and strategically communicate information and ideas.
•    Exceptional time management skills, able to manage complex projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
