Describe the primary purpose of this role as well as the Geographical scope (Global/Regional/Local) and any regulatory responsibilities

The Associate Scientist Bioassay Development role mainly consists in development, validation, tech transfer (to internal or external patners), analytical testing (i.e. release/stability) of potency methods (binding and cell-based) for NBE (New Biological Entities) required to support submissions in accordance with current rules and procedures.




Describe the main accountabilities for this role including significant tasks, responsibilities and projects

  • Perform NBE bioassay activities (including cell based and biochemical binding assays) for NBE Development projects including release and stability testing.
  • Master and provide high quality documentation (procedures, protocols, reports) of all technical work performed in the lab in accordance with data integrity requirements
    • Verify data (double check, data check)
    • Participate to the result analysis and trending
    • Present/discuss results in team meetings
  • Contribute to the implementation of new technologies/approaches when appropriate
  • Preparation of written procedures and instructions
  • Being potentially the Bioassay point of contact to the analytical project rep (APL) for a considered project

All these activities will be performed in respect of the material and premises, in compliance with the HSE/GMP rules and with the regulatory requirements for each development phase of the product.

List the type and length of experience


  • Master degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or any equivalent training oriented on biological molecules.
  • Strong and proven laboratory skills - – ideally, min 2 years of experience in a GMP regulated laboratory
  • A proven experience in ELISA – ideally, min 2 years of experience
  • A proven experience in cell culture (transformed cell lines adherent/suspension)  - ideally, min 2 years of experience
  • A previous experience in cell-based bioassay development is a plus

  • Expertise in analytical techniques for biologicals including manipulation of cells in the frame of cell-based and binding bioassay
  • Strong and proven laboratory skills
  • Able to proactively identify/solve technical bioassay related issues
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and of HSE/GMP rules
  • Well organized, flexible, meticulous and rigorous (data integrity oriented)
  • Ability to integrate new concepts and to work in a multicultural environment
  • Interpersonal skills to communicate and maintain good working relationships within the team and with internal/external customers/partners.
  • Team spirit oriented and able to populate lessons learned to the other team members
  • Good knowledge of English (especially passive English: ability to read scientific documents)
