To strengthen our Physical Pharmaceutics and Materials Science, based in our Pharma Sciences CMC Development Department in Braine, Belgium, we are looking to fill the position of: PAT Principal Scientist.

As a UCB 'scienassionate' person and PAT Principal Scientist   you like to work in an environment where you can:

  • Drive the NCE CMC development through the design/execution of meaningful PAT studies/measurements
  • Design PAT strategies/measurements to establish interplay between powder, bulk material and Drug Product properties
  • Establish a global framework at UCB for PAT technology selection 
  • Leverage PAT for Particle Engineering at the DS-DP interface
  • Architect Control Strategies (level 2 and level 1) for continuous manufacturing processes
  • Design the framework for PAT method life cycle management
  • Influence Regulatory Agencies on the relevant applications of PAT
  • Drive team spirit and encourage collaboration across teams / departments

 

As a UCB 'scienassionate' person and PAT Principal Scientist   you will contribute by:

  • Being a leader in PAT by combining elements of Analytics, Pharmaceutics, Engineering and IT to design the right solutions 
  • Guiding CMC development by connecting particle & bulk insights with manufacturing technologies and overall product performance
  • Configure PAT solutions for monitoring and control purposes as part of the design of manufacturing equipment
  • Integrate PAT with Mechanistic Modelling to support process understanding and Advanced Process Control
  • Ensuring proposed PAT strategies are by design compatible for regulatory filing
  • Building/consolidating UCB network around PAT
  • Being the reference person in PAT and training colleagues 
  • Keeping track of literature and state of the art scientific practices, and implementing innovative solutions
  • Communicating with stakeholders and external partners (universities, centers of expertise,..) 
  • Writing reports / regulatory documents and give internal and external presentations

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills

  • PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Pharmaceutics or equivalent on PAT
  • Minimum 10 years of professional experience in the pharmaceutical industry with a focus on CMC development and/or Manufacturing
  • Expertise in in-line/on-line/at-line PAT method development (NIR, Raman, particle characterization analyzers, softsensors)
  • Expertise in chemometric modelling using Matlab, SIMCA, JMP
  • Expertise in designing control strategies in SiPAT or Syn TQ
  • Experience on the implementation of PAT in the context of Continuous Manufacturing is a plus
  • Experience on regulatory submission of PAT methods
  • Knowledge on QbD development and risk assessment
  • Able to combine multiple tasks and work simultaneously on different projects
