We are seeking an expert in artificial intelligence / machine learning to join our Computer-Aided Drug Design (CADD) team in Slough (UK), Braine-l'Alleud (Belgium) or Bedford, MA (USA).

 

Role Overview

The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent scientific judgement and be a recognised artificial intelligence (AI) expert with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience. You will be instrumental in driving the application and strategy of AI and advanced machine learning technologies in small molecule drug discovery. You will work closely with our scientists across multiple departments and multiple research sites, and actively collaborate with external academic and industrial partners.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • A key contributor to the planning, implementation and execution of AI approaches for small molecule drug discovery, including compound property prediction/optimization, molecular design, retrosynthesis planning, etc.
  • Serve as a scientific leader in AI for Chemistry and provide recommendations on emerging technologies and capabilities.
  • Proactively acquire, develop and/or implement relevant computational tools and workflows through independent research and internal/external collaborations.
  • Offer constructive challenges and champion continuous improvement of CADD operation to enable effective drug discovery process.
  • Establish effective cross-functional collaborations and communications.

 

Essential Experience

  • A PhD in AI/Machine Learning, Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics or other related field is required.
  • Hands-on experience in applying artificial intelligence and advanced machine learning technologies to address challenges in chemistry is highly desired.
  • Knowledge of small molecule drug discovery is desired.
  • Strong communication skills are desired. Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong track record of scientific publications and/or patent applications.
  • Able to create effective working relationships within a matrix working environment via influencing and networking.
  • Able to demonstrate a high level of entrepreneurship and to foster can-do and can-win attitude.
